About This Role


Reporting to the Director of BI and Analytics and as part of the office of Data, Assessment, and Institutional Research (DAIR), the associate director for Data Governance and Processes provides ongoing leadership in developing and administering a university-wide data governance program and data policy. Working closely with the CDO, DAIR staff members, and key data stakeholders across the university, the Associate Director serves as a leader to bring people across the university together around the shared purpose of leveraging data to support the university’s mission and strategic plan.

This position is Hybrid eligible. This position offers a hybrid work arrangement, which includes a combination of on-campus and remote work during a typical business week.


All employees must reside in the United States when they begin working to comply with state law. K-State is unable to provide remote or hybrid work opportunities for residents of the state of Idaho.


What You'll Need to Succeed


Minimum Qualifications:



  • Requires a high school diploma (or equivalent) and nine years of relevant experience. Requirements may be met through a combination of work experience and education.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Experience in Program or Project Management.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of data governance concepts, techniques, processes, and applications.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills with the ability to work effectively across our highly decentralized institution and to cultivate professional and business partnerships.

  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team, to be flexible and adapt to different stakeholder needs and organizational priorities

  • Master’s degree in related fields.

  • 5+ years’ experience in information management developing and implementing modern data governance programs for complex cross functional organizations, data quality initiatives, training and support for analytics and responsible use, and/or metadata management initiatives.

  • Experience in an institutional research or business intelligence setting at a university, including familiarity with the academic enterprise and knowledge of key issues and concepts in higher education.

  • Knowledge of and experience with data architecture, business intelligence, and analytics.

  • Knowledge of higher education institutions and experience with enterprise data in a university context.

  • Understanding of regulatory requirements, e.g. FERPA and applicable risk and compliance implications
