The salary range for this position is $50,000 to $61,000

JOB SUMMARY

The Associate, People & Culture administers the Foundation’s payroll process on a semi-monthly basis. This individual is responsible for the accuracy, integrity, and efficiency of processing payroll. This position may perform additional ad-hoc admin duties as needed for the People & Culture (P&C) team as a whole. This position reports at the direction of the HR Partner, Employee Engagement & Payroll, People & Culture.

This position is based in Washington, DC (hybrid schedule).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in task responsible for efficient and timely processing of semi-monthly payroll for employees located domestically and internationally, to include, updating payroll checklist, reviewing and saving payroll documentation, payroll report monitoring and review, verifying voluntary deductions, employee changes and elections
  • Responsible for calculating and processing pending payroll items to include: vacation pay out’s, garnishments, bonuses, manual checks, and other payroll related items
  • Maintains record of semi-monthly payroll reports following each pay period
  • Assists in monitoring semi-monthly leave balances reports for accuracy in various systems
  • Processes multi-state SUI and tax reporting and monitoring email correspondence sent by states for monthly review
  • Establishes new tax accounts as needed
  • Research and resolve issues regarding payroll discrepancies and processing with
  • HRIS vendor (UltiPro) with guidance from supervisor
  • Answers questions regarding changes to employee record and payroll issues timely
  • Remit payment to all People & Culture vendors
  • Drafting and reviewing agreements and maintaining an understanding of all agreement terms and applicable flow-downs, consulting with UNF’s finance/contracts team as needed. (As applicable to the role
  • Maintain a strong knowledge of UNF’s Salesforce database to be able to process and track agreements, extract information and prepare reports. (As applicable to the role)
  • Assisting with orientations for new employees by arranging for speakers and organizing presentations
  • Preparing onboarding documents, distributing manuals, guidelines and passwords as needed to new hires
  • Maintaining personnel files and the organization of employee documents
  • Coordinate with colleagues on the People & Culture team, Operations team, and IT teams to ensure a seamless transition from candidate offer acceptance to onboarding and orientation
  • Provide administrative support to the Manager, Employee Engagement & Payroll
  • Perform timely entry and administration of new employees and interns into HRIS onboarding portal
  • Other duties as assigned

The Associate, People & Culture is not a supervisory role.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION and/or EXPERIENCE

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business management, or related field required
  • Minimum 1-3 years of Human Resources experience and payroll processing experience with a multi-jurisdictional organization of 200 or more employees required
  • Knowledge of administering payroll in the United Kingdom preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of payroll principles, practices, regulations, and procedures
  • Demonstrated knowledge of basic accounting practices and procedures
  • Demonstrated knowledge of applicable state and federal payroll and related tax regulations
  • Strong knowledge of UltiPro is preferred

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The essential functions of this role will generally be performed in a typical professional office environment with routine use of standard office equipment. Employees are expected to work on-site in accordance with UNF’s hybrid work policy, which currently requires regular in-office presence.

LOCATION

While The United Nations Foundation headquarters is located in Washington, DC, you are on a hybrid work schedule. You are expected to commute to the office three (3) days per week and you may work from home two (2) days per week.
