Job Description

HarperAudio is looking to hire an Audio Operations & Marketing Specialist. We're a nimble, dynamic team that oversees the production of all HarperCollins US and Harlequin US audiobooks. Spanning a wide range of genres, we work with best-selling authors and help launch new careers — and you'll be right in the middle of it.

A little about you: You love books and are looking to get your foot in the door at a publishing house. You're passionate about audiobooks as a storytelling medium. You excel at improving processes and implementing new ones.

The job: This newly created hybrid role will report to the Associate Publisher of Audio with a dotted line to the Senior Marketing Manager of Audio, primarily splitting your time between audio operations and audio marketing.

Operations

  • Research contracts and capture relevant audio rights information, then share findings with the appropriate stakeholders
  • Assist the Associate Publisher in managing backlist audio production and title management
  • Submit agreements, amendments, and performer agreement requests as needed
  • Support the Associate Publisher with scheduling and meeting coordination
  • Support the Associate Publisher in generating regular sales and production reports.

Marketing

  • Support the Senior Marketing Manager of Audio with day-to-day audiobook marketing efforts across frontlist and backlist titles.
  • Coordinate select audiobook review submissions, including identifying appropriate opportunities, gathering required materials, and tracking outreach status.
  • Partner with imprint marketing teams to share audiobook marketing updates, assets, and opportunities that support title, author, and audience outreach.
  • Maintain organized records of audiobook marketing activity, performance updates, and platform needs to support more efficient planning and reporting.
  • Provide flexible support on emerging audio marketing initiatives, campaign needs, and cross-functional projects as the role develops.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Prior publishing experience, including internships, a bonus but not required
  • Able to set priorities and problem-solve under pressure, with guidance from senior leadership
  • Self-starter who handles ambiguity well
  • Adept at evaluating existing processes and suggesting improvements
  • Eager to learn and a strong team player who is comfortable collaborating with multiple teams.
  • Detail-oriented and well-organized, with solid project management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel
  • A genuine enthusiasm for the audiobook format and its unique storytelling potential
  • Conversational or fluent in Spanish, a plus
  • Interest in reading & listening to books as well as consuming media, a plus
