About the Opportunity

The AVR Technician plays a critical role in supporting a variety of evaluation programs across grapes, citrus, cherries, stone fruit, and subtropical crops. This position is responsible for executing laboratory evaluations, managing sample flow and inventory, ensuring data integrity, and supporting the development of standardized methodologies that drive consistent, high-quality research outcomes. 


Responsibilities 

  • Conduct laboratory-based evaluations of fruit and plant materials across multiple crop categories. 
  • Receive, organize, store, and process incoming samples according to established protocols. 
  • Support field-based evaluations across multiple crop categories. 
  • Perform fruit quality assessments using laboratory equipment and standardized measurement procedures. 
  • Enter, validate, and clean research data to ensure accuracy and consistency. 
  • Manage GTS toolkit inventory, equipment readiness, and sample traceability. 
  • Assist in refining methodologies to improve consistency and efficiency. 
  • Assist in mapping fields, reporting tree numbers, and auditing existing plantings. 

Location / Work Environment

  • On-site at our Center for Innovation located in Wasco, Ca.
  • The position involves active work in multiple operational environments, including laboratories, exterior field areas, and cold storage facilities. The employee must be able to work in varying temperatures, humidity levels, and seasonal outdoor conditions.
  • This position requires operating laboratory instruments, tools, and computers, as well as the ability to communicate effectively. The employee will frequently stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive tasks. The role requires the ability to lift, carry, and move materials weighing up to 45 pounds.
Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • 1-3 years' experience in laboratory, agricultural, or research environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and related Microsoft Office applications. 
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy. 
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in Agriculture, Plant Science, Biology, or related field 
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish. 
  • Experience with fruit, produce, agricultural, postharvest, or similar programs.

$21.82 - $26.01 per hour
