Information Technology (IT) invites applications for a Banner Systems Coordinator to provide strategic oversight, program management and operational leadership for the University of Montana’s ERP ecosystem, including: Banner HR, Finance, and Student modules. Reporting to the Deputy CIO within the Enterprise Technology group, and collaborating with the Business Systems team in Enterprise Technology, this position serves as the University’s primary program coordinator for ERP operations across the main and affiliate campuses.
Position Duties
- Lead the strategic direction, maintenance, and enhancement of all ERP-related systems
- Oversee coordination of ERP upgrades, patches, testing, and system integrity assurance
- Manage the relationship with hosting/cloud vendors, ensuring contractual compliance and service quality
- Serve as liaison between IT and functional units to align business needs with technical solutions
- Partner with project managers, IT Business analysts, and the Enterprise Technology teams to deliver high-impact technology initiatives on time and within scope
- Coordinate with the Identity management and Cyberinfrastructure teams on Banner accounts and identity and access management
- Champion data governance, compliance (FERPA, HIPAA), and security best practices
- Drive digital transformation and modernization efforts across administrative platforms
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related field
- Minimum five (5) years of progressive experience in enterprise systems management, including at least three (3) years in a leadership or supervisory role
- At least three (3) years of project or program management experience working with ERP systems
- Strong expertise in ERP environments, particularly Ellucian Banner or comparable ERP systems
- Proficiency with ERP system implementations and digital transformations with ERP systems
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex projects
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, system integrations, and SaaS solutions
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels
- Experience working with cross functional teams and managing projects in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of ticketing and project tracking tools (e.g., JIRA, TeamDynamix, ServiceNow)
- Understanding of data governance, data security, and regulatory compliance in higher education
- Master’s degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related field
- Certified in PROSCI change management principles
- Certified PMP (Project Management Professional)
- Extensive experience with Ellucian Banner in a cloud-hosted environment
- Experience with enterprise ticketing/project management systems such as JIRA, TeamDynamix, or ServiceNow
- Experience managing cloud-based infrastructure and integrations

Work Schedule: Full-time, 1.0 FTE (40 Hours a week), Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, 12 months/year
Probationary Period: Six (6) months minimum
