Job Description

The blade maker will produce items from various types of metal and non-metal materials to blue print, sketches and work instructions.

  • Operator may layout own work, setting up, adjusting and operating some, but not all of the following machines: shear, drill press, punch press, bevel grinders, skiver, hatchett grinder, etc.
  • Responsible for producing product within specification and applicable procedures/work instructions, drawings and quality documents.
  • Perform basic machine maintenance.
  • Perform some, but not all processing operations in the fabrication of a variety of doctor blades: cut stock to length, flatten, straighten, punch, blank, perforate, tap and rip to width, route contours to shape blade and assemble.
  • Pull coli stock for orders.
  • Maintain a clean, organized and efficient work area.
  • Fully responsible for the quality of their own work. 
  • Comply with all company safety policies, procedures and practices.
  • Participate in efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
  • Work overtime as required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Compensation $18.64 - $30.39 hourly

Education/Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent. Miniumum two years of manufacturing experience with exposure to fabricating and asembly operations. Experience with devices to lift irregular shaped objects (i.e. cranes, power lifts, and methods of lifting).

Knowledge: Basic shop mathematics and technologies. Able to read basic blue prints. Understand order of operations and good manufacturing practices.

Skill: Able to correctly use and read measuring tools ( i.e. taple measure, micrometers, Vernier calipers). Control the equipment to hold quality requirements, drawing dimensions and tolerances consistently. Verbal and written communication skills to convey infromation within the organization. Abillity to solve practical manufacturing problems with little guidance. Average computer skills. Able to prioritize taks.

Physical/Environmental Demands: Possess manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items with fingers. Able to lift, carry, move, push, or pull up to 40lbs. without aid of a device. Work in shop conditions with moving equipment, noise, dust and temperature swings. Periodically exposed to hazards of a serious nature requiring care in use of machinery and other equipment necessitiating the use of personal protection equipment.
