Position Summary
The Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) develops, implements, and oversees evidence-based behavior programs that support students with developmental disabilities and behavioral needs. Working collaboratively with teachers, families, and interdisciplinary teams, the BCBA conducts assessments, develops behavior intervention plans (BIPs), monitors student progress, and provides coaching to ensure consistent implementation of behavioral supports aligned with each student's IEP and BHA's mission and core values.
This is a safety-sensitive position requiring the ability to safely supervise students, respond to behavioral crises, drive individuals served when needed, and administer medications as trained.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Master's degree in Applied Behavior Analysis, Education, Psychology, or a related field
- Active BCBA certification and Missouri LBA license
- BACB-approved 8-hour supervision training
- Minimum two years of experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities or behavioral disorders (school experience preferred)
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of ABA principles, IDEA, IEPs, FBAs, BIPs, and data-driven decision-making
- Strong leadership, communication, organization, and collaboration skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and data collection systems
- Ability to coach staff, manage competing priorities, and maintain professionalism in high-pressure situations
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and develop Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs).
- Design, implement, and monitor individualized behavior programs using evidence-based ABA practices.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret behavioral data to evaluate progress and adjust interventions.
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, families, and school teams to support student success and IEP goals.
- Participate in IEP meetings, family consultations, and interdisciplinary planning.
- Train, mentor, and provide performance feedback to staff implementing behavior supports.
- Ensure fidelity of behavior intervention implementation through observation, coaching, and data review.
- Lead behavioral crisis response and model effective de-escalation strategies.
- Maintain accurate documentation, treatment plans, and progress reports in compliance with BACB, DESE, and BHA standards.
- May supervise RBTs, BCaBAs/LaBAs, Behavior Specialists, or other assigned staff in accordance with BACB and BHA guidelines.
- Support student transition and reunification goals by collaborating with families, school districts, and community partners.
- Complete required documentation, billing, reporting, and other duties as assigned while upholding BHA's mission and core values.
