Job Summary: 

The Business & Capital Technician supports the economic development team by assisting with administrative tasks, project coordination, and maintaining data related to business and capital initiatives. The role focuses on supporting business retention and expansion efforts and ensuring the efficient management of related programs.

 Minimum Job Requirements: 

  1. Associate's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Public Administration, or related field.
  2. At least 1 year of relevant experience in a business support or administrative role.
  3. A valid driver’s license.

 Essential Job Functions:

  • Provides general administrative support to the Economic Development Department, including document preparation, data entry, and file management.
  • Assists in gathering and organizing economic and demographic data to support business retention and expansion efforts.
  • Maintains accurate records of project activities and financial transactions related to business development initiatives.
  • Helps coordinate meetings, events, and communications for economic development boards and commissions.
  • Supports the preparation of reports, presentations, and other materials to inform key stakeholders.
  • Collaborates with team members to ensure smooth implementation of projects and programs.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

 Knowledge of:

  • Economic Development principles, practices, and techniques.
  • General knowledge of local, state, and federal economic development incentives.
  • City policies and procedures and website administration.

 Skills in: 

  • Providing administrative support in a professional setting.
  • Communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Managing multiple tasks and prioritizing in a fast-paced environment.
  • Handling sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Maintaining detailed records and ensuring data accuracy.

 Physical Demands/Work Environment:   

Work is performed in a standard office environment with low to moderate noise level.  Subject to sitting for an extended period of time, standing, walking, bending, reaching, kneeling, and lifting and putting away such items as records and office supplies of moderate weight of up to 50 pounds.  Working with a wide variety of people, experiencing different levels of emotions
