Job Description

About the Department

Responsible for data retrieval and analysis to support strategic decision-making, planning, and operational effectiveness across various college departments and collaborate with stakeholders, utilize data visualization tools, and employ statistical techniques to provide actionable insights.

Position Duties

Query, clean, and analyze complex data sets from various sources, including student information systems (Banner, ODS, Cognos) and external data providers (NSC).

Conduct comprehensive data analyses to identify trends, patterns, and correlations that support evidence-based decision-making.

Design and generate interactive dashboards, reports, and visualizations to effectively communicate complex data insights to stakeholders.

Create standardized reporting templates and automate data refresh processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting.

Collaborate with end-users to understand reporting needs and provide recommendations for enhancements to reporting capabilities.

Conduct ad-hoc analyses and data-driven research to support data-informed decision-making at all levels of the institution.

Work with stakeholders to identify data needs and serve as a representative of the IRRA department in meetings or on committees.

Assumes other responsibilities assigned by the Director of Institutional Research, Reporting and Analytics.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Business Analytics, Information Systems, Statistics, or a related field. Degree requirement may be substituted with relevant and equivalent work experience.

Experience interacting with administrative computing systems and large scale databases requiring evidence of mastery in research and quantitative analysis.

Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and dashboard development.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex data into meaningful insights.

Knowledge of descriptive and statistical analysis techniques, survey research, and research methodologies.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information to non-technical audiences.

Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

Other Qualifications

Tableau or Power BI, Business Analysis/Analyst, Python, or SQL certifications.

Master’s degree business Analytics, Information Systems, Statistics, or a related field. Degree requirement may be substituted with relevant and equivalent work experience. 

Three years proven experience in data analysis, business intelligence, or institutional research. Expertise and experience from a Higher Education Institutional Research Office or similar work environment may be substituted for education or other requirements.

Familiarity with student information systems and higher education data (e.g., Ellucian, Banner, IPEDS, OSRHE).

Mastery of R/Python/SPSS, SQL, Excel and Tableau/Power BI.

Experience with IPEDS, HLC, Qualtrics, datawarehouses and Cognos.
