Regional Parts Manager-Power Generation:
The Regional Parts Manager – Power Generation leads and oversees the parts function across the Power Generation Service regional branch network. This role combines parts business development with day-to-day operational oversight of parts estimating, procurement, inventory management, and job support for generator service and maintenance-agreement customers.
The Regional Parts Manager directs and supports the parts personnel within the region — including Service Estimators and Parts Representatives — ensuring parts are sourced accurately and on time, inventory is controlled, customer accounts grow, and every job is supported to keep customers’ power systems running with maximum uptime.
Oversees parts operations and personnel across assigned Power Generation branches and territories, including standalone parts facilities where applicable. Partners closely with Power Generation Operations Personnel and local Branch Personnel to support the full service and maintenance workflow.
Job Duties:
Leadership & Team Oversight
- Lead and develop the regional parts team, setting clear expectations and holding the team accountable for parts accuracy, requisition turnaround, and customer responsiveness.
- Hold the team accountable for building additional work quotes timely and dispatching them to operations.
- Ensure parts personnel maintain required supplier and company training and certifications, and drive ongoing development of parts knowledge across the team.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships among Power Generation Operations Personnel and local Branch Personnel.
Parts Procurement & Sourcing
- Direct the research, sourcing, and procurement of parts for generator maintenance and repair jobs, including Purchase Order creation, receiving, and development of non-stock, OEM, and local supplier sources.
- Maintain dealer accounts and supplier relationships across the region, and ensure freight costs are recovered in accordance with current policy.
Inventory Management
- Oversee inventory control across the regional branch network, including service-truck inventory checks, cycle counts, core management, shipping/receiving, and interbranch transfers.
- Develop recommended parts lists for maintenance-agreement customers and coordinate with Customer Support Centers to stock these parts.
Maintenance Agreement & Job Support
- Maintain the parts portion of equipment records for maintenance-agreement customers in Business Systems, accounting for supersession and obsolescence as needed.
- Monitor Business Systems to acquire and expedite parts for maintenance and repair jobs, keeping job records, the department, and customers informed.
- Ensure the parts portions of shop jobs are complete and accurate to facilitate timely job closings.
Order Accuracy & Customer Service
- Ensure parts used on jobs are recorded in Business Systems for accurate inventory levels and customer invoicing.
- Estimate delivery dates, expedite urgent orders, and resolve delivery problems to ensure efficient use of technicians’ time.
Business Development & Account Growth
- Maintain and grow parts business across the assigned Power Generation customer base, prospecting new accounts and maximizing sales at the highest possible gross profit margin.
- Be responsive to customer needs, support warranty matters and parts returns per W.W. Williams policy, and maintain close customer relationships.
General
- Perform other duties in the Parts Department as assigned.
Work Experience & Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 7 years’ experience in parts or service within power generation, diesel engine, or related heavy-equipment operations, including parts management or supervisory experience.
- Working knowledge of diesel generator sets, engines, controls, and related power generation systems and accessories.
- Demonstrated leadership ability with experience directing parts or service personnel.
- Proficiency with parts and business systems, including the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Superior selling skills based on probing to uncover customer needs, introducing benefits to meet and support those needs and closing the sale.
- Computer and software skills including Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong verbal and written communication, leadership, & customer service.
