This candidate will play a key role in delivering an exceptional guest experience by providing prompt, friendly, and knowledgeable service in a café environment. The Café Attendant is responsible for counter service, cashier duties, restocking food and beverage items, and maintaining cleanliness and organization throughout the shift. The ideal candidate is passionate about hospitality, has a strong work ethic, and thrives in a fast-paced team setting while upholding the highest standards of cleanliness and customer service.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Employee Management
- Provide excellent customer service as a counter service attendant and cashier
- Accurately process transactions using the POS system and handle cash/credit payments
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of all areas of the café during the shift.
- Restock food, beverage, and supply items as needed or directed by management.
- Follow all opening and closing procedures.
- Ensure compliance with NYC Department of Health regulations.
- Effectively describe menu items and answer guests' questions.
- Support team members and contribute to a positive team environment.
Qualifications
- 1 to 2 years of hospitality experience in a customer-facing position preferred
- Passion for food, beverage, and delivering exceptional hospitality
- Strong verbal communication skills and ability to articulate menu offerings
- Anticipate guest needs and take pride in providing excellent service
- Professional demeanor with a polished, warm, and welcoming presence
- Experience with restaurant POS systems and cash/credit handling is a plus
- Highly organized, attentive to detail, and able to multitask with a sense of urgency
- Dependable, punctual, and committed to delivering results
- Positive attitude, enthusiastic, and a collaborative team player

- Able to lift up to 50 lbs, and stand, bend, and reach for extended periods (up to 8 hours)
- Food Handler’s Certificate is a plus
- Barista experience is a plus
Location: Asia Society Museum
Rate: $18.00 + tips/year
Schedule: Full-time, On-Site
