ST. CLAIR COUNTY TECHNICAL EDUCATION CENTER
FULL-TIME CATERER
NON-UNION, AT-WILL EMPLOYEE
JOB TITLE:
- Snack Shop Caterer
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Caterer provides various support services while assigned to the Catering Department at the St. Clair County RESA. Services may include baking, cooking, preparing food, serving, handling money, managing inventory, delivering food, and working with students.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Successful food preparation, baking, and cooking experience in restaurants, hospitals, schools, or catering events.
- Demonstrated ability to work successfully with students and staff in a customer service setting.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Must be able to work long hours while standing.
- Ability to work as a team member.
- Knowledge and/or certification in ServSafe Sanitation.
- Valid Michigan driver’s license.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work cooperatively with instructional staff, the food service department, and administration.
- Assist with preparing meals, snacks, and catered events, as needed.
- Communicate effectively with students, instructional staff, catering staff, and administration.
- Ability to handle currency and run a cash register.
- Help to provide support with catering needs.
- Work a flexible schedule throughout the year, including possible nights, weekends, and summer.
- Detection of burning, spoilage, and freshness of food products.
- Prepare daily food requirements.
- Read and follow recipes.
- Deliver a high level of customer service at all times.
- Able to work with students.
- Work in a fast, steady-paced environment.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Employment Date: Pending School Board approval and completion of pre-employment, drug screen, and background check.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00 am – 2:30 pm, not to exceed 35 hours/week
Year-round School Position, including summer hours (not to exceed 261 days per year)
Wage: $15.00-$17.00 per hour based on demonstrated skill and ability
Fringes: Single subscriber health, dental, vision, life, long-term disability, retirement
