12 Months - 240 Days
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's degree and certification in school administration, doctorate preferred.
- Verified proof of five (5) years' successful experience as a teacher or administrator.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office software; knowledgeable of SOE software.
- Possess and maintain valid Alabama driver's license and BCS insurable driving record required.
- Background clearance through FBI and ABI processes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Regular and punctual attendance required; full compliance with BCS sick leave policy.
- Serve as program director/coordinator for assigned programs.
- Design and implement professional development relevant for personnel related to assigned areas of supervision.
- Coordinate activities with community agencies relevant for assigned areas of supervision.
- Make regular visits to local schools and classrooms in assigned areas of supervision.
- Provide general expertise and act as liaison between schools and central office in assigned areas of supervision.
- Represent the school system as directed at conferences, training seminars, and/or SOE meetings. Implement initiatives and relay information to relevant personnel in school district.
- Compile data and submit reports in a timely way to the SOE or other agencies, as directed, related to assigned areas of supervision.
- Evaluate personnel assigned for supervision in a timely way.
- Maintain documentation related to all areas assigned for supervision according to the records retention act.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Promote a climate of high expectations for program staff.
- Demonstrate professional ethics.
- Adhere to federal, state, local guidelines, and board rules and regulations.
- Monitor and update policies related to assigned areas of supervision.
- Attend workshops to enhance skills and stay current in field.
- Drive vehicles to accomplish assigned work tasks.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to work a standard day and additional hours as required.
- Ability to assess need, plan and monitor budgets, and allocate resources.
- Knowledgeable of accreditation requirements, curriculum requirements, courses of study, and effective instructional strategies.
- Demonstrated skill in instructional leadership.
- Knowledgeable of evaluation program for teachers and support personnel.
- Demonstrated ability to administer a large and complex program.
- Knowledge of state and local school plans for general programs.
- Knowledge of school law and related state and federal mandates.
- Ability to use effective interpersonal and collaborative skills necessary for the successful implementation of programs, the coordination of committees, and to maintain productive relationships among colleagues.
- Knowledge in computer software and hardware; skill in spreadsheet and database applications, specifically Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point.
- Knowledge of Board policies and procedures.
- Effective oral and written communication and leadership skills.
- Excellent organizational and administrative skills.
- Skill in setting long and short range goals.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Stoop, bend, step and reach on an occasional basis.
- Adequate strength, mobility, dexterity, agility, speech and visual and aural acuity to perform required tasks.
