Job Summary
The Certified Medical Assistant or Medical Assistant renders care within their scope of practice, to patients in the clinic setting and coordinates the nursing office function as advised by the physicians. Maintains an environment consistent with safe, professional patient care while representing MMHC in a caring, professional manner.
Essential Job Functions

•Manages patient schedule/flow
•Interfaces with other departments in appropriate manner to facilitate patient care
•Returns patient calls in a timely manner
•Rooms patient per department standards
•Advocates for patient as needed
•Communicates with appropriate care givers as needed
•Maintains cleanliness of workstation
•Complies with OSHA standards for safety, infection control
•Communicates with management as needed to support highest level of patient care
•Maintains licensure and keeps skills current
•Taking and recording vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse) and observing overall patient condition.
•Assisting with examinations and minor procedures, collecting and handling specimens appropriately for lab tests.
•Assisting with wound care, changing bandages, inserting catheters, and other duties within the scope of practice.
•Administering certain medications, i.e. IM, Oral, Subq, eye drops and nasal sprays.
•Maintaining and documenting accurate and detailed patient records in the electronic medical record system.
•Managing phone calls, filing paperwork, and performing other clerical duties.
•Setting up exam rooms for procedures/exams.
•Proper cleaning and disinfecting of rooms between patients.
•Maintaining supplies are adequate in the room for needed use.
•Reporting patient status and concerns to registered nurses, doctors, and other members of the healthcare team.
•Reviewing medications with patients and their families upon administration.
•Review and answer questions on after visit summary with patients as needed.
•Monitors equipment, supplies, medications/vaccines for proper storage and expiration dates.
•Participates in quality initiatives under the direction of the Nursing Manager/Providers.
