Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Greet and check in patients in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Schedule, confirm, and reschedule patient appointments.
  • Verify patient demographic, insurance, and financial information.
  • Register new patients and maintain accurate patient records in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
  • Collect copayments, fees, and other patient payments in accordance with organizational policies.
  • Answer and direct incoming telephone calls, respond to patient inquiries, and relay messages appropriately.
  • Assist with patient intake, including obtaining and updating medical information as needed.
  • Coordinate referrals, authorizations, and follow-up appointments.
  • Prepare and maintain patient charts, forms, and documentation.
  • Process incoming and outgoing correspondence, faxes, and medical records requests.
  • Assist providers and clinical staff with administrative tasks and patient flow coordination.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information and comply with HIPAA regulations.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives and organizational performance goals.
  • Ensure compliance with FQHC, HRSA, state, federal, and organizational policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

 

Requirements

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of a Medical Office Assistant, Medical Administrative Assistant, or related healthcare program preferred.

Certification

  • Current Certified Medical Office Assistant (CMOA) credential required or obtained within the timeframe established by the organization.

Experience

  • One (1) year of experience in a medical office, physician practice, community health center, or healthcare setting preferred.
  • Experience with electronic health records and medical scheduling systems preferred.
  • Bilingual abilities are a plus.
