Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Certified Medication Aide (CMA) to join our healthcare team at Cedar Ridge Inn. As a CMA, you will be responsible for administering medications to residents/patients, monitoring their health status, and ensuring accurate documentation. You will work closely with nurses and other healthcare professionals to provide the best care possible for our patients while maintaining a safe and efficient environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Administer prescribed medications to patients as directed by the healthcare provider, including oral, topical, and injectable medications (if applicable).
Monitor and document patient responses to medications, including any side effects or adverse reactions.
Ensure that medications are dispensed in accordance with established protocols, patient safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
Assist patients with medication management, including explaining proper medication usage and answering questions.
Maintain accurate medication administration records and documentation in the facility’s electronic health records (EHR) system.
Report any changes in patient condition or concerns to the nursing team, physicians, or appropriate medical personnel.
Educate patients and families on medication regimens, possible side effects, and the importance of adherence to prescribed treatment plans.
Ensure medications are properly stored and secured according to facility policies.
Assist with patient daily care needs, including mobility assistance and hygiene as required.
Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and other professional development activities as required.
Qualifications:
Current and valid Certified Medication Aide (CMA) certification.
(night shift differential available)
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Completion of an accredited Medication Aide training program.
Knowledge of basic pharmacology and medication administration principles.
Ability to follow instructions and maintain attention to detail in administering medications.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work effectively within a team of healthcare professionals.
Previous experience as a CMA or in a similar healthcare role preferred.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining focus on patient safety.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, and lift for extended periods of time.
Ability to lift and assist patients as necessary.
May require the ability to operate medical equipment and work with medications requiring fine motor skills.
