Key Responsibilities:
• Provide full-scope midwifery care including prenatal, labor and delivery, postpartum, newborn, and gynecologic care across the lifespan.
• Manage normal pregnancies, labor, birth, and postpartum recovery.
• Perform comprehensive health assessments, diagnoses, and treatment planning.
• Provide family planning, contraceptive management, preventive care, and well-woman services.
• Deliver preconception, perimenopausal, and postmenopausal care.
• Assess and stabilize newborns, including emergency interventions as indicated.
• Serve as first assist for cesarean deliveries and other procedures as credentialed and privileged.
• Perform newborn circumcisions and other procedures consistent with training, credentialing, and privileges.
• Perform office and hospital-based procedures including IUD insertion/removal, endometrial biopsy, and pessary management as credentialed and privileged.
• Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members to provide high-quality patient care.
• Consult, co-manage, and refer patients as clinically appropriate.
• Maintain timely, accurate medical records and participate in quality improvement, continuing education, and departmental initiatives.
Qualifications:
Required
• Master's or Doctoral degree from an ACME-accredited nurse-midwifery program
• Current certification as a Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) through the American Midwifery Certification Board
• Active and unrestricted New York State license as a Midwife
• Registered Nurse (RN) licensure
• Prescriptive authority in New York State
• Current BLS and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
• Ability to obtain and maintain first assist privileges
• Ability to perform newborn circumcisions consistent with credentialing and privileges
• Excellent clinical, communication, and interpersonal skills
Preferred
• One to three years of clinical experience as a Certified Nurse Midwife
