We are searching for a Certified Ophthalmic Technician at our Outpatient Ophthalmology Clinic at the West Campus location - someone who works well in a fast-paced primary care setting. In this position, you’ll gather information, assess and provide direct care to patients. You’ll also work collaboratively with other members of the health-care team to render age-appropriate care.

Qualifications:
- High school graduate, GED, or equivalent
- 2 years experience in an ophthalmology or optometry office required
One of the following certifications required:
- COA - Cert-Cert Ophthalmic Assistant (Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in
Ophthalmology (JCAHPO) - COT - Cert-Cert Ophthalmic TECH (Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in
Ophthalmology (JCAHPO) - OPTMTRST - Licensed Optometrist Texas Optometry (Texas Optometry Board)
Responsibilities:
- To provide ophthalmic technical support in the patient care area in a manner developmentally appropriate for the ages of patients served (0 to 18 years) and adults as necessary
- Performs preliminary measurements and exams on both pediatric and adult ophthalmology
patients - Performs visual acuity, color vision testing, lensometry, exophthalmometry, Amsler grid, Schirmer test, pupil evaluation,
anterior chamber depth assessment, stereo testing, ocular motility on extraocular muscle actions, strabismus, amblyopia,
and assessment methods on children and adults - Performs other essential job-related duties
- Assists physician in examining ROP infants in both the inpatient and outpatient setting
- Coordinates appointments, compiles list and tracks active ROP infants
- Provides Administrative Support
- Performs basic instrument maintenance on ophthalmoscopes, retinoscopes, lensometers, perimeters, tangent screen,
phoropter/trial frames, slit lamps, keratometers, muscle light, surgical instruments
