Job Summary:
The Charge Reconciliation Specialist is responsible for ensuring all billing charges are captured accurately and appropriately. This role is accountable for timely and accurate charge capture, data input of patient encounters in the billing system, and resolution of assigned edits.
Job Requirements:
Minimum Education:
Completion of a Medical Coding and Billing program or related training preferred
Associate degree in a related field preferred
Minimum Work Experience:
2–3 years of operating room medical billing and coding experience preferred
Experience working with electronic medical record (EMR) systems required
Required Skills:
Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
Proficiency in medical record systems
Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and CMS requirements and standards
Essential Functions:
Identify, analyze, and reconcile billing errors or omissions within assigned queues
Prepare and post charges to appropriate accounts
Input patient registrations and resolve registration and charge entry edits
Prepare and scan batches for data entry
Perform detailed data collection for tracking and monitoring charge entry activities
Resolve front-end edits and batch maintenance issues
Collaborate with department leadership to improve efficiency and accuracy of charge processes
Monitor department queues to ensure timely processing
Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of all patient encounter charge entry
