Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
daily accounting operations within the Office of Budget and Management,
overseeing Accounts Payable, Fixed Assets, and Cash Receipts staff, and
serving as System Administrator for the Advantage Financial System, including
testing system updates and maintaining tables.
as liaison to external auditors during the annual audit, preparing audit
schedules, coordinating meetings with City departments, and supporting
preparation of the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR).
core general ledger and subsidiary ledger functions, including preparing
journal voucher entries, approving and processing warrants, and executing
wire payments and transfer transactions.
processes, including supervising annual closing procedures, preparing
adjusting and reversing entries, and reconciling general ledger balances with
subsidiary ledgers and Treasurer’s Office records.
Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree
in accounting or business administration and four years of progressively
responsible accounting experience, including one year of supervisory
experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. This
individual will have strong knowledge of accounting and auditing principles as
applied to municipal finance, along with a working understanding of budgeting
processes and office procedures. The ideal candidate will be able to analyze
and summarize financial statements, prepare financial reports, and proficiently
use word processing, spreadsheet, and database software applications.
Preference for employment in all positions with the city shall be given to applicants who are full-time city residents.
To be eligible to apply, current City employees must have completed their probationary period and attained certified status in their current position.
