The County of Fresno invites applications for the position of Chief Office Assistant. Incumbents are responsible for planning, directing and managing the clerical operations and staff of a department, including workflow analysis, assessment and staffing structure.
The current vacancy exists within the Department of Behavioral Health. However, the eligible list established from this recruitment may be used to fill vacancies in other County departments as they occur.

Minimum Qualifications
Experience: Six (6) years of full-time, paid clerical experience, one (1) year of which must have been equivalent to that gained as a Supervising Office Assistant with the County of Fresno.
In order to meet the Minimum Qualifications, clerical work experience must have been gained in an office environment (e.g. experience gained as a cashier in a store or restaurant, delivery driver or bank teller is not considered qualifying experience). Your application must clearly identify supervisory experience over clerical staff.
License: Possession of a valid class "C" driver's license, or equivalent, may be required.As a condition of employment, some departments may require candidates to undergo and pass a thorough and detailed personal background investigation and/or polygraph examination. These investigations include employment/credit histories, verification of education, arrest/criminal records, drug/alcohol use, and personal conduct. This list is neither inclusive nor exclusive; other relevant areas may be investigated and verified.

SELECTION PROCESS:Pursuant to Fresno County Personnel Rule 4 - Selection Process, applicants may be required to complete an examination process and successful candidates will be placed on an employment list effective for a minimum of 3 months and certified in final rank order as vacancies occur.- Tentative Exam Dates: July 13-14, 2026
- Tentative Interview Dates: July 29-30, 2026
- Additional interviews, including those with other departments, will be scheduled as needed.
