Childcare Driver & Kitchen Assistant

Are you passionate about working with children and creating a safe, nurturing environment where they can thrive? We are seeking a reliable, caring, and energetic Childcare Driver & Kitchen Assistant to support our Early Childhood Education program.

This unique role combines transportation, food service, and classroom support responsibilities, making it an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys variety in their workday and wants to positively impact the lives of children!

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver's license with a safe driving record.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks throughout the day.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Windows.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Experience working with children in a childcare, school, or youth program setting.
  • ServSafe Manager Certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire).

What You'll Do

Transportation & Child Safety

  • Safely transport children to and from local schools, field trips, and program activities using agency vehicles.
  • Follow established transportation schedules and safety procedures.
  • Supervise children during transportation and ensure safe boarding and exiting practices.
  • Complete vehicle inspections, safety checks, and incident reports as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized bus environment.

Kitchen & Food Service

  • Prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks according to approved menus.
  • Ensure proper food handling, storage, and sanitation procedures.
  • Assist with inventory management, food ordering, and stock rotation.
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely, including dishwashers, steamers, and convection ovens.
  • Maintain compliance with local health department and food safety regulations.

Classroom Support

  • Provide classroom assistance and teacher support as needed to maintain required child-to-staff ratios.
  • Engage with children through play, learning activities, and daily routines.
  • Promote children's social, emotional, intellectual, and physical development.
  • Help create a safe, welcoming, and developmentally appropriate learning environment.
  • Follow all licensing, accreditation, and quality standards.

Work Environment: Exposed to a combination of bus, office, school and mental health treatment environments.  Exposed to children with behavior problems.  May be exposed to shouting and clients who may be verbally and physically aggressive.  May be exposed to blood or vomit and bodily fluids.
