Position Location:
This position is located in Los Alamos, New Mexico.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities (may include, but are not limited to):
- Support the operation of Chromium groundwater remediation field activities
- Supports all aspects of water system operation, maintenance and monitoring
- Operates small water treatment system via computer-based SCADA program
- Collects and transports water samples per permit requirements and technical objectives
- Monitors equipment such as pump motors, valves, meters, etc. for performance reliability
- Troubleshoot and correct minor mechanical equipment problems
- Keep and maintain records
- Support for facility access, permits, and notifications
- Support interface with the Facility Operations Director to avoid conflicts with other site activities
- Coordinates with site personnel conducting remediation activities
- Coordinates with the technical lead as required
- Team with counterparts in groundwater monitoring and well drilling/maintenance areas to ensure coordination and elimination of potential technical conflicts
- Complies with all health & safety policies and practices
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities):
- Complete understanding of principles, concepts and techniques in the field of general engineering
- Skill and ability to perform complex professional tasks and to analyze and develop innovative solutions to problems
- Ability to recommend approaches for new and improved processes
- Ability to work with broad objectives, with latitude to determine the best way to accomplish tasks.
- Ability to lead certain aspects of a task or project
- Ability to train and mentor more junior staff
- Level of language skills, mathematical skills, communication skills, reasoning ability and computer skills necessary to perform essential functions of the job
- Ability to work in a team-oriented project environment

Education and Experience Required:
Associate degree in related discipline. However, a combination of education and relevant experience wherein the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the position’s duties and responsibilities have been adequately demonstrated is acceptable.
Education Equivalency: 1 years of relevant experience for 1 year of college.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
Work outdoors may involve: hot/cold environments, inclement weather, work near heavy equipment, work involving hazardous and radioactive materials. Work hours involve periodically working overtime, weekends and holidays.

While working to achieve N3B LLCC objectives, the Chromium Operator will ensure all activities and operations are performed in a safe and deliberate manner to include protecting the confidentiality and integrity of Personally Identifiable Information (PII). This role will maintain required safety, security and operational training; assure procedural and regulatory compliance; and make safety, security and quality an integral part of every task; including taking the necessary steps to stop work if continuing the job is unsafe or compromises security. Ability to obtain an L level Department of Energy security clearance.
