Job Description

Summary:
Provides supervisory support to a ground crew for all aspects of construction. This could include but is not limited to: pour foundations, install fencing, assisting with grounding and maintain area surrounding towers.

This is a safety sensitive position.

 

Key Responsibilities:
- On-site supervision of all related construction activities defined in the scope-of-work both day and night
- Maintain project timeline as stated from Project Manager
- Complete daily site field reports
- Complete daily site Job Safety Analysis
- Provide site scope input
- Collect all on-site closeout documentation and submit to the closeout manager per the deliverable timelines
- Review all on-site closeout documentation for accuracy, completeness and timeliness
- Participate in continuous training offered by Ontivity including weekly safety call
- Responsible for site crew quality, timeliness, accuracy and schedule
- Do grounding, terminations, fastening, proper bolting and antioxidant use, support of leads, cadwelding as required, etc.
- Assist on overall job including ground work, all tasks required to build and install a site per customer specs, maintain safe work environment, daily use and completion of JSA forms, assist with overall crew work, maintenance of vehicles and equipment, etc.
- Must know how to read and understand drawings, piping diagrams, job specifications, mounting specs, testing procedures, etc.
- Must be able to work in a team environment on the crew and be a valued member of the team and the company.
- If required, schedule and attend permit inspections with local municipality
- Other duties as assigned

Physical Demands:
- Must be in good physical condition with the ability to stoop, crawl, bend at the knees and waist, squat and lift 50 lbs including body weight, equipment, tools and boxes
- Must be willing to travel out of market/state, for up to several months at a time (80-100%)
- Must be able to pass pre-employment screening that includes background and drug testing.
- May be required to work long and unpredictable hours
- Position requires working outdoors in all types of weather
- Must possess valid driver’s license. Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is a plus

Minimum Qualifications:
Technical Skills:
- Ability to read and understand drawings, piping diagrams, job specifications, mounting specs, testing procedures, etc.
- Ability to operate different types of equipment such as backhoe, forklift, electrical and hand tools
- Successful completion of industrial first aid and rescue training

-Some Electrical Experience Required

Soft Skills:
- Must be able to work in a team environment on the crew and be a valued member of the team and the company.
- Communicate in person, by phone and radio with supervisor, Construction Manager and co-workers

Supervisory Requirements:
- Supervise 2 to 4 crew members including scheduling, quality, performance management and safety

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with overtime requirements

Travel:
Extensive travel is required for this position. Usually between 80 to 100% of the time.

Required Education and Experience:
- High School diploma or general education degree (GED); related trade school education preferred
- 3 to 5 years experience working on a tower construction crew
- Combination of education and experience to total 5 years
- Demonstrated ability to lead construction crew to complete project
