Your day to day as a Delivery Driver CDL-A

As a Full-Time Delivery Driver CDL-A at Upper Lakes Foods, Inc., you’ll take the wheel of a tractor trailer, navigating the roads while ensuring timely deliveries of our diverse product range, including meat, produce, frozen goods, and more. Your role will involve manually unloading these products using a two-wheeler on metal truck ramps, where your customer service skills will shine as you create a positive experience at each site. Safety is a top priority, so you'll operate in full compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, ensuring that every delivery is not only efficient but also secure. To excel as a Full-Time Delivery Driver CDL-A with Upper Lakes Foods, Inc., you’ll need a mix of technical skills and a customer-focused mindset. Operating a tractor trailer safely is essential, so a valid Class A CDL and at least one year of driving experience are preferred. You'll be unloading various products using a two-wheeled hand cart, so physical strength and stamina are crucial; lifting and moving items with a combined weight up to 500 pounds is part of the job. Familiarity with software for pre-trip inspections and invoice verification, along with the ability to maintain delivery schedules, is equally important. You should be comfortable working in diverse weather conditions and have strong communication skills to interact with customers.

Knowledge and skills required for the position are:

  • Safely operate a tractor trailer to deliver products (meat, produce, frozen foods, dry goods, supplies) to customer sites
  • Unload products using a two-wheeled hand cart and place them in designated customer storage areas
  • Perform pre-trip inspections and conduct trailer temperature checks
  • Maintain delivery schedule and productivity standards
  • Complete post-trip responsibilities, including returns, fueling, and required paperwork (DOT logs, DVIR. etc.)

 

  • High School Diploma/GED preferred
  • Valid Class A CDL
  • 1+ year driving experience preferred
  • Good driving record and ability to meet DOT medical requirements

 

  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English; basic math skills required
  • Customer service experience and ability to work in all weather conditions
  • Strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and integrity
  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
  • The employee is required to stand and walk, at times over uneven surfaces.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 60 pounds.
  • The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
  • Must have ability to safely transport product using a two-wheel cart where weight of all products can be up to 500lbs.
