Job Description


Position Overview:

The main function of the CDL Class B Driver is to relocate products using our 26-foot straight truck. This includes all Hit facilities, and other destinations needed in the operations of Hit.  

 

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Coordinates with Distribution leadership and Distribution personnel to facilitate the movement of product.
  • Previous experience operating a 26-foot straight truck.
  • Must be able to understand and complete the necessary warehouse paperwork.
  • Adheres to all safety policies set forth by management, FMCSA (Federal, Motor 
  • Carrier Safety Administration), and DOT.
  • Maintains acceptable pace for delivery of transported products.
  • Maintains all cleanliness, appearance, and operation of the Hit Vehicle.
  • Coordinates with Distribution Center management and Fleet Management for vehicle maintenance, as needed.

 

 

Requirements:

  • Successfully complete the Hit Driving Certification Course.
  • High School Diploma preferred.
  • Must meet FMCSA regulations, including being at least 21 years old and licensed to drive the type of commercial motor vehicle (CMV) to be operated for Hit.
  • Possess a current and valid Class B commercial motor vehicle operator’s license with all required endorsements and HazMat certification, issued by Florida. 
  • Must not be disqualified to drive a commercial motor vehicle under the rules in §391.15 of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSA).
  • Fully complete a driver supplemental application for employment with Hit. Applicants must also satisfactorily explain date gaps on their application in writing. 
  • A background check results in a motor vehicle record for the past three (3) years that meets Hit minimum requirements. 
  • Be approved by the HIT insurance carrier for operation of the motor vehicle.
  • Pass a post-offer drug test and criminal background check.
  • Possess a valid, current DOT medical exam card and be able to secure an updated DOT medical exam card, as required.
  • Minimum of 3-year safe commercial vehicle driving experience, with recent experience in a commercial motor vehicle similar in type to the one being operated for Hit. 
  • Be able to read and speak English sufficiently enough to be able to converse with the public, understand highway traffic signs and signals, respond to official questions, and be able to make legible entries on reports and records.
  • Any missing information on their application must be received by Hit before the supplemental screening processes can be completed. 
  • A Driver Pre-Employment Extract from Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse / FMCSA must have satisfactory results.
  • Drivers are expected to assist with the loading and unloading of the trailer.

 

Other Skills/Abilities:

  • Understanding DOT standards of operating a CMV, Commercial motor vehicle.
  • Use of handheld devices and some Microsoft office functions.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment.
  • Have the ability to work overtime.
  • Able to work in Warehouse Elements – high heat and cold temperatures.
  • Good Verbal and Written communication skills.

 

 

Physical Demands:

  • Seated or standing for extended periods of time.
  • Repeatedly enter and exit the truck throughout the shift.
  • Bending and stooping as a normal part of the required duties.
