The Clerical Medical Office Assistant position is part of the Physician Services – Marion Department and is a part-time role working approximately 48 hours per two-week pay period, primarily during day shift hours, Monday through Friday.  Standard working hours are Monday through Thursday from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM and Friday from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Flexibility is required to accommodate the practitioner's and department.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • Medical Office Assistant training or experience preferred

  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred

  • Strong office, organizational, and clerical skills

  • Above-average computer, oral, and written communication skills

  • Excellent telephone etiquette, interpersonal abilities, and customer service skills

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and make decisions under pressure

  • Tact, diplomacy, and professionalism when interacting with patients and staff

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as receptionist and clerical support, greeting visitors and patients and directing them appropriately

  • Answer telephone calls, schedule appointments, and obtain pre-certifications as needed

  • Perform general clerical duties including typing, filing, assembling reports, and maintaining patient charts

  • Order office supplies and manage inventory as needed

  • Collect payments and assist with billing-related tasks

  • Assist with special promotions, public relations activities, and patient scheduling for tests outside the office

  • Support practitioners and other staff with daily office functions

  • Perform other duties as assigned to support department operations and ensure efficient workflow
