We are currently seeking a dedicated Clinical Supervisor to lead the day-to-day clinical operations of our 11-bed Kaplan Family Hospice Residence in Newburgh, NY.
The Kaplan Family Hospice Residence is an 11-bed inpatient hospice facility that provides around-the-clock care for patients requiring intensive symptom management, respite care, or end-of-life support in a peaceful, home-like setting. As a key member of our leadership team, you will have the opportunity to support exceptional patient care while mentoring and developing a team of compassionate hospice professionals.

Salary Range: $86,000 – $95,000
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM
This exempt leadership position requires flexibility to adjust hours as needed to support the operational, clinical, and staffing needs of our 24/7 inpatient hospice residence, including occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Position Summary
The Clinical Supervisor oversees the day-to-day clinical operations of the Kaplan Family Hospice Residence, providing leadership, guidance, and support to clinical staff while ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered hospice care. This role is responsible for staffing and clinical oversight, care coordination, regulatory compliance, quality improvement, and staff development, while fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and clinical excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day clinical leadership and oversight of the Kaplan Family Hospice Residence, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered hospice care.
- Manage staffing, scheduling, and clinical coverage to support patient needs and operational excellence within a 24/7 care environment.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate admissions, discharges, changes in level of care, and individualized care plans.
- Serve as a clinical resource and mentor to Residence staff, providing guidance, coaching, and support related to hospice and end-of-life care.
- Promote compliance with CMS, Joint Commission, NYS Department of Health, and organizational standards through clinical audits, quality monitoring, and survey readiness activities.
- Lead quality improvement, infection prevention, medication management, and patient safety initiatives to support exceptional clinical outcomes.
- Oversee staff orientation, competency validation, performance management, and professional development to foster a culture of continuous learning and accountability.
- Support recruitment, employee engagement, interdisciplinary communication, and organizational initiatives that enhance patient care and operational effectiveness.
Requirements
Education/Credentials:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN)
- Valid unrestricted New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license
- CPR/BLS certification
- CHPN certification or must be obtained within 12 months following hire date
Experience:
- Five (5) years of progressive clinical nursing experience
- Two (2) years of experience in hospice, palliative care, home care, oncology, long-term care, or a related healthcare setting preferred
- Supervisory, leadership, charge nurse, or management experience preferred
- Experience with staff scheduling, performance management, and clinical supervision
- Experience with interdisciplinary care planning and coordination
What you bring:
- Strong knowledge of hospice philosophy, end-of-life care, symptom management, and pain management principles.
- Working knowledge of CMS Conditions of Participation, New York State Department of Health regulations, Joint Commission standards, and hospice regulatory requirements.
- Knowledge of infection prevention and control practices.
- Knowledge of medication management, including controlled substance handling and accountability requirements.
- Ability to conduct clinical record audits and evaluate documentation for compliance and quality.
- Strong critical thinking, clinical assessment, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to effectively manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR), Microsoft Office applications, and healthcare technology systems.
- Ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams, patients, families, and community providers.
