Job Description

TITLE: Certified Medication Aide

REPORTS TO: Resident Care Supervisor/Administrator 

Non-Exempt

Shift Hours: 7:00am - 7:00pm

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

The Certified Medication Aide is responsible for the safe and accurate administration of prescribed medications to residents under the supervision of licensed nursing staff. The role supports quality patient care by ensuring medications are given on time, monitoring for adverse reactions, and reporting any concerns in accordance with facility policies, federal, and state regulations.

ROLE and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Aid with the day-to-day functions of the Residents in accordance with current rules, regulations and guidelines that govern the Assisting Living, Independent Living, and Personal Care Facilities.
  2. Make written reports/recommendations concerning the activities of your shift as required.
  3. Assist with Admitting, transferring, and discharging residents as required.
  4. Assist with medication administration and documentation per facility policy.
  5. Complete and file required record keeping forms/charts upon the resident’s admission, transfer, and/or discharge.             
  6. Review treatment sheets daily and report any changes to the Resident Care Supervisor/Administrator.             
  7. Legibly and routinely, chart all resident activities as required and in accordance with established charting and documentation, policies, and procedures.

KEY CHARACTERISTICS:

  • Must be able to function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel, and support agencies.
  • Must be able to relate to and work with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times, hostile people within the facility.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must be a Certified Medication Aide and Certified Nursing Assistant in accordance with the laws of the State of Georgia.
  2. Prior CNA or CMA related experience in a nursing home/ long-term care setting is preferred.
