Community Transit is seeking a Full Time Coach Operator Instructor to train and develop new and existing Coach Operators. This position is responsible for delivering effective classroom instruction, and behind-the-wheel training. May conduct same or parts of the same training for other employees as assigned.
Essential Duties:
1. Principally responsible for conducting training for coach operators, coach operator trainees. May conduct same or parts of the same training for other employees as assigned.
2. Provide both classroom and driving education.
3. May assist in researching, developing, preparing, and maintaining instructional materials and training aids, as assigned.
4. May assist in setting training schedules.
5. Evaluate and audit employee skill development, such as annual coach operator evaluations, post-accident training, etc.
6. Prepare written, practical, and oral exams as appropriate.
7. Assess training needs, make recommendations to management.
8. Create and maintain related documentation.
9. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be either a current Term Limited Community Transit Coach Operator Instructor OR a Community Transit Coach Operator with at least three years of experience in this role at Community Transit. (One-year previous bus/driving instruction experience may be considered as substitute for one year at Community Transit).
- One year experience working with a PC using word processing and email functions.
- Hold a valid WA State driver’s license and CDL Class B (with passenger endorsement and airbrake restriction lifted).
- Valid DOT Medical Certification.
- No more than one moving violation within the last five years.
- No more than one preventable accident within the last three years. (When employed as a coach operator)
- No written disciplinary action within the last three years.
- An excellent and reliable attendance record for the last three years.
- Ability to work varied shifts and days with overtime as required.
Working Conditions
Your work will be performed both indoors in an office or classroom environment and outside the office in a transit coach while training drivers. You will be required to move throughout and between different buildings and may need to complete tasks in noisy environments. You will be required to lift and carry training materials and supplies up to 20 pounds. Conducting presentations and on road training will require standing and walking for sustained periods.
