In this dynamic and customer-focused role, you will support daily store operations by ordering products, maintaining accurate inventory levels, and ensuring merchandise is organized, stocked, and presented in an inviting and professional manner. You will manage textbooks, retail items, and food products while monitoring inventory and contributing to efficient store operations that support student success and lifelong learning.
As a key member of the College Store team, you will provide exceptional customer service through cashiering and sales support, demonstrating accuracy in cash handling, professionalism, and attention to detail. The ideal candidate is highly organized, communicates effectively, maintains confidentiality, and is committed to creating a positive, service-oriented environment that strengthens our campus community and reflects the highest standards of integrity.
This position operates under the direct supervision of the College Store Manager.
Position Duties
1. Order textbooks, supplies, apparel, and food items; resolve discrepancies, returns, and shipping issues.
2. Maintain appropriate inventory levels, including stock replenishment and backstock management.
3. Review sales trends and academic schedules to forecast product demand.
4. Support inventory management, including cycle counts, audits, and product rotation.
5. Identify slow-moving or obsolete inventory and recommend adjustments.
6. Operate the point-of-sale system, process transactions, and maintain the aid function for purchases
7. Assist customers with product selection and respond to general inquiries.
8. Collaborate with instructional programs to ensure required materials are available.
9. Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked sales floor and checkout area; assist with overall store operations as needed.
10. Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience Requirements:
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. At least three years of experience in retail ordering and inventory management.
3. At least two years of cashiering and customer service experience.
4. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and PDF editing tools.
5. Maintain a professional demeanor in alignment with institutional standards.
6. Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
7. Strong written and oral communication skills.
8. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
Physical Requirements:
1. Ability to stand for extended periods and perform frequent bending, reaching, kneeling and lifting.
2. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally, 20 lbs. frequently, and 10 lbs. consistently.
3. Manual dexterity for handling small items and operating equipment.
4. Ability to push and pull merchandise as needed.
5. Effective verbal communication and sufficient hearing and vision for daily tasks.
Other Qualifications
WORKING HOURS: Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
