We are seeking a Combat System Maintenance Coordinator (CSMC).

This is an on-site role in Newport News, VA.

Responsibilities:

  • The primary objective of this role is to provide a Combat System Maintenance Coordinator (CSMC)/On Site Representative (OSR) at SUPSHIP Newport News in support of the Ship Design Manager for PMS312D.
  • You will provide on-site management for RCOH shipyard execution and advanced planning of system design, equipment design, and modernization of combat systems.
  • Technical Oversight: Provide on-site oversight for RCOH shipyard and Alteration Installation Teams (AIT) execution and advanced planning of system/equipment design, acquisition, construction, and installation of combat systems and associated equipment.
  • Production Monitoring: Conduct daily Island Mast and Tower (IMT) and Combat Systems (CS) tours to monitor production progress and identify equipment issues affecting Key Event/Milestone completion.
  • Design & Cost Analysis: Review CVN 74/75 Inspection Reports (IRs), Design Information Memos (DIMs), and Liaison Action Requests (LARs) to provide production impact and cost analysis to Supervisor of Shipbuilding (SOS) Production Controllers.
  • Integration Coordination: Integrate and coordinate Main MAST, Island, and Radar Tower production work between Alteration Installation Teams (AITs) and Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS).
  • Documentation Review: Review RCOH combat systems and C4ISR system installation schedules, Availability Work Packages (AWP), and ECP/SHIPALT/SCD records for completeness and technical accuracy.
  • Planning & Execution: Plan for the removal, repair, installation, and testing of combat, C4I, and ancillary support equipment; maintain special focus on CAPSTONE installations.
  • Strategic Support: Assist the RCOH Work Integration Assistant for CCT efforts and participate in weekly combat systems waterfront meetings to report construction issues to the RCOH Ship Design Manager.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of ten years relevant experience with bachelor’s degree, Minimum of 20 years’ experience in lieu of degree.
  • Must have experience with aircraft carrier maintenance and operations, shipbuilding/ship repair business analysis.
  • Equivalent experience with other fleet assets will be considered. 
  • Knowledge of Combat Systems to include radars, antennas, communication and network systems such as CANES, NAVMACS, Waveguide, NSSMS, RAM launchers, DFGMC, SAT-2, TACAN, JTIDS, MORIAH, CBSP, MOBI, SPN-46, SPN-41, SLQ-32, MTC2
  • Strong knowledge of MS Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Must maintain constant communication availability via a contractor-furnished mobile device.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Project/Program Management experience.
  • Former US Navy Chief Petty Officer, Chief Warrant Officer, or Limited Duty Officer.
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university.
  • Experience working with or at a shipyard, Naval Surface/Undersea Warfare Center (NSWC/NUWC), Supervisor of Shipbuilding Command (SUPSHIP), Regional Maintenance Center (RMC), and/or Type Commander (TYCOM).

Clearance Requirements

Must be a U.S. Citizen and be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. government Secret security clearance or above.
