Commercial Fleet Sales Consultant

Position Overview

Loveland Ford Lincoln is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Commercial Fleet Sales Consultant to develop, manage, and grow our commercial vehicle business. This position requires an individual with previous automotive sales experience who understands the unique needs of commercial customers and can provide complete vehicle solutions, including chassis selection, truck upfitting, financing, and delivery.

The Commercial Fleet Sales Consultant will work directly with contractors, municipalities, service companies, utility providers, construction firms, and other commercial businesses to identify their fleet needs and provide vehicles equipped with the proper GVWR, engine packages, payload capacities, towing capacities, and vocational upfits required for their operations.

This position is responsible for generating new business, maintaining long-term client relationships, structuring deals, arranging financing, and ensuring a professional customer experience from initial contact through vehicle delivery.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Commercial Sales & Business Development

  • Prospect and develop new commercial and fleet accounts through cold calling, networking, referrals, community involvement, and business-to-business sales activities.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with existing customers while continuously developing new business opportunities.
  • Conduct on-site visits with business owners, fleet managers, and decision-makers to understand vehicle and operational requirements.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to grow commercial vehicle sales within assigned territories and industries.
  • Maintain regular follow-up with customers regarding fleet replacement schedules, expansion opportunities, and future vehicle needs.

Vehicle Specification & Upfit Management

  • Consult with customers to determine the appropriate vehicle specifications based on intended use and operational requirements.
  • Recommend and order vehicles with the proper:
    • GVWR ratings
    • Engine and powertrain packages
    • Chassis configurations
    • Axle ratios
    • Payload capacities
    • Towing capacities
    • Wheelbase requirements
    • Equipment packages
  • Coordinate and manage vehicle upfits including:
    • Service bodies
    • Flatbeds
    • Utility bodies
    • Contractor bodies
    • Dump bodies
    • Ladder racks
    • Liftgates
    • Cargo management systems
    • Other vocational equipment
  • Work closely with manufacturers, body companies, upfitters, and vendors to ensure vehicles are built according to customer specifications.
  • Monitor vehicle orders and upfit progress while providing timely updates to customers.

Finance & Deal Management

  • Structure vehicle transactions and prepare complete deal packages.
  • Submit credit applications and financing requests to lending institutions.
  • Utilize Dealertrack, RouteOne, and other dealership software platforms to process credit applications and secure financing approvals.
  • Present financing options and payment structures to customers.
  • Offer and sell finance and insurance products including:
    • Extended service contracts
    • Maintenance plans
    • GAP coverage
    • Commercial vehicle protection products
    • Other dealership-approved F&I products
  • Ensure all finance and compliance documents are completed accurately and in accordance with dealership, lender, state, and federal requirements.
  • Review and execute purchase agreements, finance contracts, lease agreements, and other required documentation with customers.

Customer Relationship Management

  • Deliver exceptional customer service throughout the sales process and beyond.
  • Maintain detailed customer records within dealership CRM systems.
  • Conduct post-delivery follow-up to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Develop long-term partnerships that result in repeat business and referrals.
  • Resolve customer concerns professionally and promptly.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate sales records and documentation.
  • Stay informed on manufacturer incentives, commercial vehicle programs, fleet incentives, and financing options.
  • Participate in sales meetings, product training, and manufacturer certification programs.
  • Meet or exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual sales objectives.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Previous automotive sales experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Colorado Motor Vehicle Salesperson License.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to build relationships with business owners and decision-makers.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Commercial truck, fleet, vocational vehicle, or B2B sales experience.
  • Knowledge of Ford commercial vehicle products and fleet programs.
  • Experience working with vehicle upfitters and commercial body manufacturers.
  • Experience with Dealertrack, RouteOne, CRM software, and dealership management systems.
