Job Description

Summary

As part of the Somerset Trust Team, it is expected of employees to provide high quality customer service to all internal and external customers and positively collaborate with all team members both within the department and within other areas of the bank. The Commercial Lending assistant’s primary responsibility is to assist the credit analysts and commercial loan officers in all aspects of the commercial lending function. This role requires a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail when preparing reports, completing the loan verification process and scanning loans. This role will assist in verifying commercial loans, gathering data for external audits, gathering data for external loan review, and providing other support as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

·         Verify new commercial loans for accuracy and that all documents have been signed and are on file with the bank. 

·         Verify that all commercial loans have been entered into the main operating system (DNA) accurately with respect to the loan documents. 

·         Image all new commercial loans into the bank’s database and all post-closing documents related to commercial lending loan files including interest rate changes, renewals, maturity/interest extensions etc. 

·         Prepare daily credit references when necessary.

·         Process credit reports for all commercial lending staff as necessary.

·         Assist with research on analysis when necessary.

·         Provide assistance to other areas within the Commercial Lending area as requested.

·         Understand and support all BSA/AML responsibilities as applicable to the position as well as consistently, accurately, and timely carry out these responsibilities in compliance with the Bank’s internal policies

·         Perform other related work and duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience

·         Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

TECHNICAL SKILLS


·         Experience using DNA is preferred, but not required.

·         Proficient in using Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, Outlook

·         Must be willing to learn new systems and adapt to emerging technologies

 

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS


·         Ability to read interpret documents such as procedure manuals and release notes

·         Ability to write business correspondence, and policies using proper grammar and accurate spelling

 

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS


·         Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure. 

·         Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, bonuses, etc. using a calculator.

 

REASONING ABILITY


·         Ability to apply common sense, understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. 

·         Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.  Organizational priority setting, and decision-making skills are also required.

 

PHYSCIAL DEMANDS


  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to use hands and fingers to operate office equipment, telephones, etc.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus

·         The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
