Job Description

Praetorian Power Protection, the leader in NETA testing and staff augmentation to the mission-critical industry, is searching for a strong Commissioning Engineer with electrical experience for our data center site in Reno, NV.  This role is critical to ensuring the successful commissioning of electrical systems for our projects. If you have a strong electrical commissioning background and thrive in fast-paced environments, we want you to help us drive excellence.

In this position you will:

  • Ensure that mission-critical electrical systems are installed, tested, and functioning according to the design intent. This role spans the entire project lifecycle—from design review and factory testing to final integrated systems testing (IST) and facility handover.

  • Key Responsibilities

  • Testing & Validation: Execute Level 1–5 commissioning for critical systems, including UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supplies), MV/LV Switchgear, Generators, ATS/STS, and PDUs.

  • Documentation: Develop and review commissioning plans, Functional Performance Tests (FPT), and Integrated System Testing (IST) scripts.

  • Technical Troubleshooting: Identify, document, and resolve complex electrical faults and design discrepancies during the startup phase.

  • Design Review: Analyze one-line diagrams, schematics, and submittals to ensure compliance with owner project requirements (OPR).

  • Safety Leadership: Enforce strict adherence to NFPA 70E and LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) procedures on-site.

  • Client Coordination: Act as a technical liaison between owners, contractors, and vendors to ensure project milestones are met safely.
