We are seeking a Commissioning Project Manager to play a key role in delivering high-performing building systems that meet design intent, operational goals, and client expectations. In this role, you’ll work closely with owners, design teams, contractors, and internal project teams to lead commissioning efforts across complex facilities, applying your technical expertise and problem-solving skills to improve building performance, reliability, and sustainability. Candidates must be based in the Albuquerque, New Mexico area or willing to travel frequently to the region.



 



Responsibilities




  • Lead commissioning activities for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems across complex facilities, including laboratories, higher education, healthcare, municipal, and mission-critical environments

  • Manage and coordinate commissioning activities from pre-design through post-occupancy, establishing project strategy, scope, and performance objectives

  • Develop and execute commissioning plans, schedules, and functional test procedures for HVAC and specialty systems in alignment with project requirements and industry standards

  • Monitor project progress, timelines, and milestones, providing clear status updates and documentation for internal and client teams

  • Support development of commissioning scopes, fee proposals, and project execution strategies in collaboration with senior leadership

  • Review construction documents, specifications, submittals, and system designs to identify commissioning requirements, risks, and potential issues

  • Perform site inspections, system readiness evaluations, and functional performance testing to verify installation quality, integration, and operational performance

  • Analyze test results, troubleshoot system issues, and recommend corrective actions to optimize performance

  • Collaborate with owners, architects/engineers, contractors, and equipment vendors to resolve technical challenges and achieve project objectives

  • Support owner training, systems documentation, and final commissioning reports

  • Ensure commissioning activities align with industry standards, best practices, and sustainability requirements such as LEED or IECC



 



Required Qualifications




  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction, or a related field with at least 2 years of relevant field experience; or completion of a 2-year technical certificate program with 5 years of relevant field experience

  • Hands-on experience in HVAC or lighting controls, test and balance, commissioning, HVAC design, system start-up, or similar technical roles

  • Working knowledge of commissioning standards and guidelines, including ASHRAE, NEBB, or ACG (AABC Commissioning Group)

  • Strong understanding of commissioning processes, including pre-functional inspections, equipment start-up, and functional performance testing

  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documentation

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams and client-facing environments

  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment

  • Willingness to travel up to 50%



 



Desired Qualifications




  • Experience designing mechanical, electrical, or plumbing systems

  • Commissioning certifications (CxA, CCP, CBCP, or similar)

  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification

  • NICET certification

  • Experience with commissioning software such as BlueRithm or Facility Grid

  • Familiarity with LEED or IECC commissioning processes

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Bluebeam Revu
