Description

Help Us Tell Our Story and Connect Our Community to Care

Ocracoke Health Center, Inc. is looking for a Full-Time Community Outreach and Marketing Coordinator to help us connect with the communities we serve, promote our services, support public health initiatives, and make sure people know where to turn when they need care.

This is a great role for someone who enjoys people, communication, creativity, community events, and finding ways to make important health information easier to understand and access.

If you’re the kind of person who can help organize an event, create a flyer in Canva, update a website, talk with community partners, and come up with a social media post that people might actually read - this may be a great fit.

This position may be performed in a hybrid work arrangement; however, regular onsite work will be required to support community outreach activities, event planning, content development, and organizational initiatives. Ocracoke Health Center, Inc. operates clinics in Manteo, Engelhard, and Ocracoke, and any of these locations may serve as the employee’s primary worksite. Candidates should be comfortable traveling between service areas as needed, as outreach events and community activities may occur in any of these communities. Occasional travel to other locations within North Carolina may also be required.

Compensation: $23.00 - $27.00 per hour

What You’ll Be Doing

In this role, you’ll help us strengthen our connection with the community by:

  • Coordinating and participating in community outreach events, health fairs, educational activities, and public engagement efforts that may occur during evenings and/or weekends
  • Sharing information about clinic services, programs, public health resources, and available community services
  • Creating marketing and communication materials such as flyers, newsletters, social media posts, website updates, press releases, and promotional campaigns
  • Helping manage and improve our social media presence and website content
  • Building relationships with community organizations, local agencies, schools, businesses, media outlets, and other partners
  • Supporting patient education, public health campaigns, and organizational events
  • Gathering community feedback and helping identify local health and service needs
  • Tracking outreach activities, engagement efforts, marketing results, and related reporting data
  • Supporting grant-related outreach and reporting needs as assigned
  • Helping departments promote services, events, and educational initiatives
  • Jumping in on other projects as needed — because community outreach rarely fits neatly into one box

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Friendly, approachable, and comfortable talking with people from different backgrounds
  • Creative, organized, and able to manage multiple projects at once
  • A strong communicator, both in writing and in person
  • Comfortable using social media, email, websites, and basic design tools
  • Able to represent the organization professionally in the community
  • Interested in healthcare, public health, community engagement, or nonprofit work
  • Dependable, flexible, and willing to help where needed
  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
  • Willing and able to travel between clinic locations and community events as needed

Requirements

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, health promotion, business administration, or a related field
  • At least two years of experience in marketing, communications, outreach, healthcare, public relations, or community engagement

Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered, so we encourage candidates with related skills and experience to apply.
