About The Harris County Community Supervision and Corrections Department (CSCD) 

The Harris County Community Supervision and Corrections Department (CSCD) is one of the largest probation departments in the United States, supervising more than 70,000 individuals and employing over 600 staff members across 6 locations. We provide a wide range of services including community supervision, outpatient counseling, cognitive-behavioral programming, and residential treatment, designed to strengthen our clients’ abilities and support their long-term success. Position Overview:
Responsible for facilitating employee training and professional development by coordinating, developing, and delivering training sessions as assigned.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct group and individual training sessions with new hires and/or existing staff, as directed.

  • Prepare and submit required documentation to the Texas Leadership and Development Division (TLDD) for state mandated training sessions.

  • Coordinate and manage training programs, including new hire academies, certification courses, and ongoing professional development. Ensure trainers are assigned for each training session and training is delivered according to schedule.

  • Send training notifications reminders to staff and internal/external trainers prior to scheduled sessions.

  • Communicate training expectations, onboarding schedules, and upcoming training requirements for new hires and staff.

  • Provide support through video conferencing, teleconferencing, phone communication, or individual meetings to address questions and/or concerns regarding training material.

  • Provide status updates to managers, branch managers, and supervisors regarding new hire onboarding progress, including observations, performance concerns, and skill development.

  • Conduct quality assurance reviews to evaluate and provide feedback on the application of skills acquired during training.

  • Develop, update, and enhance training curriculum, including web-based modules and advanced skills trainings to meet departmental needs and objectives.

  • Maintain and update training databases and tracking systems to ensure the accuracy of training hours, completion records, and requirement status.

  • Maintain training material and resources, including forms, training bins, and supplies.

  • Assist in the preparation and production of training materials. Support the setup of the training environment, including arranging tables, chairs, equipment, and refreshment areas, as needed.

  • Contribute to and support a positive and collaborative work environment by communicating and interacting professionally with managers, coworkers, subordinates, and members of the public.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Travel to regional offices as required.

  • Work overtime as needed to meet operational needs.

Position Duties

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an institution of higher education accredited by an organization recognized by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must possess (or obtain within one year of appointment to this position) the state mandated qualifications for a Community Supervision Officer. Failure to pass the test may result in termination of employment.

  • Must become certified in and maintain certification with the TRAS.

  • Must meet the minimum requirements for access to CJIS information.

  • Excellent verbal communication skills.

Salary:

  • $4,974.21 - $5,652.76 Monthly

  • Depends on Qualifications
  • Based on 26 Pay Periods


Work Environment and Physical Demands:

  • The position is primarily performed in a standard office setting. Remote work may be available on designated days after the introductory period, provided the employee remains in good standing and meets departmental requirements.

  • The physical requirements described represent those necessary to successfully perform the essential duties of this position. While performing these duties, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle or operate objects or tools, and to reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand, speak, and hear.
