Community Technician

Full-Time | 37.5 hours/week | 24/7 Program | Mandatory Overtime

 

Make a Difference Every Shift 

At BRC, every shift matters. As a Community Technician, you’re a consistent, trusted presence for individuals experiencing homelessness—often supporting people in moments of crisis, uncertainty, or transition.

This hands-on, frontline role is ideal for those interested in social work, human services, public health, or emergency response. No prior shelter experience required—just strong judgment, empathy, and the ability to stay calm under pressure.

 

What You’ll Do

  • Maintain a safe, orderly residential environment through active monitoring and rounds
  • Engage residents using trauma-informed and de-escalation techniques
  • Respond to conflicts, safety concerns, and crises professionally
  • Screen residents and visitors while maintaining dignity and security
  • Provide emergency support (First Aid/CPR, Narcan – training provided)
  • Complete documentation (logbooks, incident reports, progress notes)
  • Support fire safety procedures, inspections, and compliance
  • Assist with meals, escorts, inventory, and facility upkeep

Who We’re Looking For

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Strong communication skills and basic computer proficiency
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and maintain professional boundaries
  • Willingness to obtain required certifications

Preferred:

  • Experience with homelessness, mental health, or substance use populations
  • Security Guard license, Food Handler Certificate, or similar certifications
  • Bilingual candidates encouraged to apply

 

Schedule

  • Full-time, 37.5 hours/week
  • Morning, evening, and overnight shifts available
  • Mandatory overtime required
