About the Department

Pay Grade: Professional 4

This position coordinates daily operations of audit and compliance for the Registration and Records office, working closely with the campus community and system office staff. The Compliance Manager provides leadership and guidance to staff within the Registration and Records Office and campus stakeholders to ensure compliance with record-keeping policies, compliance review policies, and appropriate responses to a variety of requests for student records.

Position Duties

*Works with the Dean of Compliance and WCE Registration to develop and implement policies, guidelines, procedures, and communication systems to provide internal controls over course materials and student records to ensure compliance 

*Researches and analyzes new audit regulations/trends and audit methodology, and stays abreast of legislative issues impacting CU state and federal funding   

*Compiles student records for subpoenas, Dept. of Education, and other ad hoc requests for student information, in accordance with FERPA laws

*Processes registrations for certain CU student cohorts such as those in the college’s Northern Wake Academy

*Reviews student records to verify athletic eligibility

Assists with compiling documents and organizing files for the college’s bi-annual FTE compliance review

Participates in the state’s bi-annual compliance review   

Monitors various records and record-keeping processes throughout the year and does internal auditing of select records

Handles verification and coding of students participating in apprenticeships

Works closely with Assistant Registrar for Student Records to compare and verify our CU FTE reporting and attendance records on the Institutional Class Report at the end of each term

Works closely with Sr. Dean and Dean for Compliance and WCE Registration to ensure compliance reviews are successful

Works closely with campus stakeholders to identify the most efficient and accurate methods for maintaining records that are required to be produced for a compliance review

Compiles various student records for periodic audits in Veterans Affairs and Financial Aid offices

Minimum Qualifications


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 

Intermediate proficiency with MS Office suite Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal  

Demonstrated ability in compiling and reviewing documentation

Ability to create databases and reports   

Ability to maintain accurate and detailed records 

Ability to exhibit good interpersonal skills and work well with others 

Ability to collaborate, build relationships and maintain professional contacts within field 

Ability to effectively plan and execute special projects involving coordination of Colleagues


Requirements: 

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Education, or related field

Three years of experience in auditing or regulatory compliance  


Preferences: 

Master’s degree in Business Administration, Education, or related field 

Five years of experience in auditing or information management

Proficient use of Colleague, Hyland Onbase

Experience with NCCCS State Board Code, NC General Statutes, Numbered Memoranda, NC Records Retention & Disposition Schedule
