About the Role
The Contamination Control Technician is responsible for the precision cleaning, inspection, and preparation of Multi-Layer Insulation (MLI) products and aerospace flight hardware to ensure they meet stringent customer and quality requirements. This position performs contamination control activities throughout the manufacturing process, including pre-bakeout cleaning, final cleaning and inspection, and shipment preparation.
Working in a controlled laboratory environment, the technician conducts detailed white light and ultraviolet (UV) inspections, cleans incoming customer hardware, operates ultrasonic cleaning equipment when required, and prepares completed products for shipment through purging, vacuum sealing, and protective packaging. This role also supports laboratory operations by maintaining consumable inventory and assisting with additional production activities as needed.
Success in this role requires exceptional attention to detail, a commitment to quality, and the ability to consistently follow documented procedures while working with high-value aerospace hardware.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 0–1 years of manufacturing, laboratory, production, or related experience.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

- Experience working in aerospace, manufacturing, cleanroom, laboratory, or precision assembly environments.
- Experience with contamination control or precision cleaning processes.
- Familiarity with white light or UV inspection techniques.
- Experience operating ultrasonic cleaning equipment.
- Experience reviewing manufacturing documentation or material certifications.
- Mechanical aptitude and experience handling delicate components.

Responsibilities
- Perform precision cleaning of Multi-Layer Insulation (MLI) products following established procedures.
- Perform pre-bakeout cleaning of MLI products.
- Conduct final pre-shipment cleaning and inspection using white light and ultraviolet (UV) inspection methods.
- Prepare products for shipment by purging, vacuum sealing, packaging, and boxing completed hardware.
- Clean incoming customer hardware according to engineering and quality requirements.
- Review material certifications and supporting documentation for incoming hardware.
- Operate ultrasonic cleaning equipment in accordance with approved procedures.
- Maintain laboratory cleanliness and contamination control standards.
- Assist with laboratory consumable inventory and replenishment.
- Support additional laboratory activities and production needs as assigned.
- Accurately complete required documentation and quality records.
- Follow all company safety, quality, and contamination control procedures.

Physical Requirements

Employees regularly sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, reach, grasp, handle tools and materials, and use repetitive hand movements. Frequent reaching and handling of delicate aerospace hardware is required. Employees must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Close vision, depth perception, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus are required for detailed inspection work.
