CONTINUING EDUCATION FORKLIFT INSTRUCTOR – PART-TIME
WILBUR WRIGHT COLLEGE
The Continuing Education Department of Wilbur Wright College, one of the City Colleges of Chicago, seeks a Forklift Instructor – Part-Time. The Forklift and Operation Safety Certificate Program from the National Safety Council® prepares students to become safe and effective forklift operators. Upon completion of the program, students will have working knowledge of the basic use of a lift truck as well as the ability to safely inspect and operate lift trucks. The curriculum includes theory and practical training.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Demonstrates excellence in teaching, commitment to integrating new technologies in the learning process, and the ability to inspire, motivate, and empower students to succeed.
· Utilizes established training materials to present formal class training exercises to students.
· Provides instructional training in policy, procedures, and all regulatory compliance as it relates to forklifts and operators, including compliance with any local, state, and federal rules, regulations, and laws.
· Adheres to the City Colleges of Chicago code of ethics, board rules, policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS
· High School Diploma or equivalent required.
· Valid Forklift Operator Certification required. Completion of the National Safety Council “Train the Trainer” Lift Truck Training Program preferred.
· Demonstrated knowledge, training, and experience to instruct forklift students on the basic powered industrial truck.
· A combination of education and experience may be taken into consideration based on the applicant’s credentials.
· Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills and demonstrated ability to communicate and work successfully with a diverse group of students and staff.
· Ability to inspire, motivate, and foster confidence in all students
· Ability to handle all situations with tact and diplomacy.
· Proficiency in the use of computers and associated programs, including Microsoft Office.
· Knowledge of a Learning Management System preferred.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
· Ability and willingness to travel between Wilbur Wright College and various work sites (as identified for student placement and skills training) across the City of Chicago.
SALARY AND BENEFITS INFORMATION
· Salary: $35.00 per hour
