Job Duties:

  • Reports to the CEO
  • Manage staff with responsibility for customer billing and collections, accounts payable, cost and general accounting, fixed assets, and reporting;
  • Direct treasury activities, including management of a line of credit, cash flow transactions, and related forecasts. Assist in banking relationships. Credit approval for new customers and payment terms for suppliers;
  • Prepare and/or monitor all internal and external financial reports;
  • Provide financial expertise to senior management regarding short-term revenue forecasts, estimating and project pricing, job costs, variances, backlog activity, overhead rates, and financing equipment purchases. Participate in the renewal of employee benefit plans;
  • Oversee disbursement activities, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, purchase orders, petty cash, core employee expense reports, cash control, and core payroll processing. 
  • Oversee the activities of the Accounts Receivable Department to ensure the accurate and timely management of all billings and Accounts Receivable aging components. Ensure that all reasonable discounts are taken on payables. 
  • Establish and maintain systems and controls that verify the integrity of all systems, processes, and data, and enhance the Company's value. 
  • Provide financial analyses as needed, for capital investments, contract negotiations, customer and product contribution margin, and company gross profit margin evaluations.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce costs and increase company value through collaboration with shop floor personnel. 
  • Communicate with co-workers, management, customers, suppliers, and others in a courteous and professional manner
  • Assist in managing facility-related building maintenance expenditures and project priorities. Communicate with the industrial park managing committee on all matters;
  • Coordinate budget process and lead comprehensive manufacturing metrics with frequent reporting of variances, and improvement recommendations to the CEO;
  • Assist in preparation of the Company’s annual report and related audit, including the 401(k) plan. Prepare schedules in support of the preparation of tax returns;
  • Participate with operating activities, assessment of production levels, purchase order approvals, inventory turnover, job processing, customer/vendor negotiations, equipment grants, inventory reserves, and inventory accuracy, including review of periodic cycle counting;
  • Administer the 401(k) plan, coordinate participant education, and serve on the investment committee;
  • Adhere to Employee’s responsibilities outlined in Cygnus’ Health & Safety Policy.

Additional Skills & Responsibilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance with a minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing company serving in increasingly responsible positions in the accounting function of a growth company;
  • MBA and/or CPA a plus;
  • Strong general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, income tax, and banking working knowledge. 
  • Able to analyze, problem-solve, and make improvement recommendations;
  • Possess a service attitude, be customer facing, commitment to quality, and ability to communicate effectively;
  • Able to work under stress and deadlines with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail;
  • Highly proficient computer skills, including background in Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and PowerPoint;
  • Able to work independently and with others at all levels;
  • Well organized and proactive with a keen sense of urgency;
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing shop environment (including hot, cold, and/or noisy areas);
  • Physically submit to periodic drug tests (employment is contingent upon favorable results)
