Summary:
Responsible for coordinating outbound shipments through e-mail and portal input. Provide timely, accurate processing of shipping tickets and required documents for released material. Works closely with Purchasing, Customer Service, and QC to ensure only released FG’s and materials are scheduled for shipment. Will create shipping tickets and export documents and arrange carriage and freight brokerage as necessary. Provides shipment information to trucking companies for pickups. Maintains files for customer Routing Guides and contact information. Knowledge of DOT shipping rules and regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Monitor releases and creates shipping tickets.
- Process shipping tickets for released FG’s, Bulk and PK shipments.
- Maintain weight log, transposes information on shipping tickets in preparation for shipment.
- Obtain pallet dimensions when needed.
- Create Pull Lists derived from shipping tickets approved for shipment.
- Send the information to the customer to obtain approval/instruction for shipment.
- Input the information into portals when needed.
- Schedule pickups with trucking companies through email/phone/website.
- Prepare Bills of Lading with correct billing information.
- Maintain customer contact information needed for pickups.
- File Routing Guides for customers/keeps up with updates.
- Scan necessary packing list and BOL to customers after the shipments have left the facility.
- Prepare shipments via small parcel carriers when needed.
- Provide status information in relation to released shipments to customers via phone/e-mail.
- Direct traffic for timely and efficient pickup.
- Communicate effectively daily pickup information/issues/delays with supervisor.
- Maintain a neat and organized work area.
- All other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a shipping environment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Good organizational, administrative, and communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and work with a sense of urgency.
