Cost Accountant   Salary Range: $28.00 - $43.00/ Hr.

The Cost Accountant applies principles of cost accounting to develop cost systems, recommend improvements, and implement and maintain approved recommendations. Provides detailed cost information not supplied by general accounting systems. Determines and implements cost accounting procedures and methods. Prepares and analyzes cost reports and audits costing data. Examines and reviews unusual cost records and ensures cost data is allocated correctly.




 




 




 
















Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.




























































  • Collects and analyzes material and labor costs to evaluate efficiency and effectiveness of various production activities.




  • Analyzes cost changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods, or services provided, to determine effects on total production costs.




  • Develops and maintains cost procedure manual.




  • Analyzes actual manufacturing costs and prepares periodic report comparing standard costs to actual production costs.




  • Records cost information for use in controlling expenditures.




  • Analyzes audits of production costs of materials and prepares reports.




  • Compiles cost information to be used in operating and budget preparation.




  • Makes estimates of new and proposed product or service costs.




  • Provides management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting costs and profitability of products or services.




  • Manages the Inventory Adjustment General Ledger Account by preparing month-end reports on the account’s activity and by requiring feedback from warehouse and production management regarding adjustments with an absolute value of $50,000 per part number.




  • Manages the aging in the WIP account on the balance sheet by preparing month-end reports on the account’s activity and by requiring production management to close production orders that have aged beyond 6 months.




  • Manages the Purchase Price Variance General ledger account by preparing month end reports on the account’s activity and by having feedback from Purchasing and Inventory regarding variances due to such items such as Purchase Order price changes or/and tariff changes on the Purchase Information record in SAP.




  • Review Standard Cost Changes General Ledger account for price changes due to standard cost updates.




  • Directs production related departments (planning, manufacturing, mechanical engineering, design engineering, etc.) regarding structural fixes to BOM’s and Routings to ensure that part’s cost attachment reflects the actual build process.




  • Updates to Purchase Information Records of Haas Automation Europe and Haas Automation Asia.Oversee the following monthly activities at HAI:

    • SAP Controlling close.

    • HAI standard cost and global PIR updates.

    • Audit of movement types 202, 309, and 5XX.

    • Production variance analysis.

    • Manufacturing organization cost recovery analysis (actual expenses in relation to recovery rates).

    • Audit of manufacturing organization’s actual expenses, e.g., contract labor invoice payment timing, tools and tooling usage, etc.

    • Trade show internal order creation.

    • Internal order aging management.

    • Machine maintenance order aging management.

    • Overseas material number release (attaching cost, establish correct financial relationships, remove NR flag, etc.).

    • Audit of 7XX movement in relation to approved cycle count documents.

    • Audit of 904 movement to ensure inventory change is correct.

    • Attaching costs to new material releases (build materials) to ensure cost attachment logic is correct.

    • Product Cost Collector creation, settlement, and deletion.

    • Audit of sales order cost attachment to ensure that the COGM value is correct.

    • Audit of bin stock consumption for reasonableness in relation the month’s production units.

    • Audit HAA and HAE’s material master to ensure costs can be attached correctly to each material for PIR updates.

    • Determine standard cost recovery rates for activities Labor, Set-up Labor, Machine, and Overhead in relation to HAI standard cost and global PIR updates.

    • Determine HAI standard cost and global PIR update dates throughout a given year.

    • Analyze 309 movement types at HAI.

    • Review cycle count adjustments.

    • Review operation’s Purchase Order receipts transactions greater that USD$150,000.

    • Perform cost attachment logic analysis on Haas build products for the engineering, purchasing, and manufacturing business units.

    • Build SAP cost attachment analysis tools for various Haas business units.

    • Analyze monthly the cost attached to materials consumed as reported in the raw material consumption account in relation to the material’s most current purchase order value to determine if the material’s standard cost is reasonable.

    • Performs quarterly cost run of inventory materials.

    • Teach colleagues SAP’s cost attachment logic, where in SAP that the attached costs can be seen, and how to navigate within SAP to see costs attached.
