Overview:



The Crane Operator II at Sure Steel, Inc. is a skilled professional responsible for safely and efficiently operating cranes to lift, move, position, and place heavy loads at construction sites and project locations. This role requires a high level of proficiency in crane operation, along with a strong focus on safety, precision, and teamwork. The Crane Operator II will work closely with the site supervisor or project manager to ensure the successful execution of lifting operations, contributing to the timely completion of construction projects with a commitment to safety excellence.



Key Responsibilities:



1. Advanced Crane Operation:




  • Operate various types of cranes, including mobile, tower, and overhead cranes, with precision and efficiency, adhering to manufacturer specifications and safety regulations.

  • Perform thorough pre-operational checks and inspections of the crane and associated equipment to ensure safe and reliable performance.

  • Safely and accurately lift, move, position, and place heavy materials, equipment, and structural components according to project requirements.



2. Safety Leadership:




  • Lead by example in prioritizing safety at all times, ensuring compliance with OSHA and ANSI standards, company policies, and industry best practices.

  • Conduct comprehensive safety inspections of the crane and lifting equipment, promptly addressing any issues or concerns to maintain a safe working environment.

  • Actively participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and training sessions to promote safety awareness and prevent accidents on the job site.



3. Load Management and Rigging:




  • Calculate load weights and determine load capacities accurately to ensure safe lifting operations.

  • Rig and secure loads proficiently using appropriate slings, hooks, and rigging equipment, applying advanced rigging techniques as needed to maintain load stability and safety.

  • Monitor load movements and conditions closely during lifting operations, making real-time adjustments to maintain safety and prevent accidents.



4. Communication and Collaboration:




  • Communicate effectively and professionally with the site supervisor, project manager, and other team members to coordinate lifting activities and ensure smooth operation.

  • Interpret and follow instructions and signals from the signal person or designated personnel accurately during lifting operations, maintaining clear and concise communication throughout.

  • Collaborate closely with ground personnel to facilitate safe and efficient crane operations, fostering a positive and productive team environment.



5. Equipment Maintenance and Troubleshooting:




  • Perform routine maintenance tasks and advanced repairs on the crane and associated equipment to ensure optimal performance and reliability.

  • Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and technical issues promptly, taking appropriate corrective actions to minimize downtime and maintain productivity.

  • Keep the crane and work area clean, organized, and free of hazards to prevent accidents and promote a safe working environment.
