Critical Power Service Technician

Saber Power Services is seeking a motivated, safety-focused, and customer-oriented Critical Power Service Technician to join our team in Rosharon, Texas.

Position Summary: 

The Critical Power Service Technician is responsible for the installation, commissioning, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and emergency service of mission-critical power systems. This role supports customers whose operations require continuous electrical reliability, including data centers, healthcare facilities, telecommunications, industrial facilities, and other critical infrastructure.

The ideal candidate possesses strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills, works safely in energized environments, and is committed to providing exceptional customer service while ensuring maximum system uptime.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, testing, troubleshooting, repair, and replacement of critical power equipment.
  • Install, commission, and start up UPS systems, battery systems, power distribution equipment, generators, and related electrical infrastructure.
  • Diagnose equipment failures using electrical test equipment, software diagnostics, and manufacturer documentation.
  • Perform emergency service calls to restore customer equipment and minimize downtime.
  • Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Execute commissioning activities, functional testing, and acceptance testing of newly installed equipment.
  • Develop and follow Methods of Procedure (MOPs), switching procedures, and customer-approved work plans.
  • Complete service reports, maintenance documentation, and inspection records accurately and promptly.
  • Communicate technical findings, repair recommendations, and equipment status with customers in a professional manner.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with customers, vendors, and internal project teams.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, NFPA 70E, company safety policies, and customer-specific safety requirements.
  • Maintain company tools, test equipment, vehicles, and inventory in good working condition.
  • Participate in manufacturer training and continuing education to maintain technical proficiency.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to junior technicians as experience allows.
  • Assist with customer training on the operation and basic maintenance of installed equipment.
  • Travel to customer locations throughout the assigned region and other locations as required.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to provide emergency service support.
  • Perform other job-related duties as requested by management.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Associate degree or Electrical Technology certificate preferred.
  • Two (2) or more years of experience servicing electrical power systems, UPS systems, batteries, switchgear, generators, or related electrical equipment preferred.
  • Equivalent military, technical school, internship, or field service experience will be considered.
  • Valid and unrestricted driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to obtain customer site access, including successful completion of background checks and drug screenings when required.
  • Willingness to travel extensively, including overnight travel as needed
  • Skills:
  • Working knowledge of critical power systems including UPS systems, battery systems, power distribution units (PDUs), static switches, generators, and transfer switches.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Knowledge of electrical troubleshooting techniques using multimeters, power analyzers, battery testers, and other diagnostic equipment.
  • Understanding of AC/DC electrical theory and three-phase power systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose complex electrical issues.
  • Ability to safely work around energized electrical equipment while following established safety procedures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Customer-focused with a professional demeanor and commitment to service excellence.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also contributing effectively as part of a team.
