    New Lenox School District 122 is looking to hire Crossing Guards for the 2024/2025 school year.

    Position Title:  Crossing Guard

    Report To:      Principal (s), Director of Organizational Planning and Facilities

    Benefits:

    Hourly Starting Pay

    $16.00 per hour

    Summary:  

    • To direct students when it is safe to cross the street and when they should wait.  

    Qualifications: 

    • Have earned a high school diploma or equivalent.
    • Present evidence of a physical exam to determine "fit for duty", evidence of being free from communicable disease (TB), and submit to a criminal background check.

    Physical Demands:

    • Standing for 80-90% of the time and walking 10-20% of the time for a period of up to 30 minutes.
    • Must be able to navigate street crossing areas which may include concrete curbs.
    • Frequently required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
    • Ability to work in inclement weather conditions such as wind, rain, snow, ice, sun, heat, etc.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Ability to implement proper procedures for safely crossing streets.
    • Ability to interact with children and families in a positive manner.
    • Ability to report safety concerns to appropriate authority.

    Evaluation:  

    • Performance of the job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policy on the evaluation of classified personnel.
