Custodian

Part-Time Custodian (Janitorial)

Pay: $13.00 per hour

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 4Pm - 8PM

Employment Type: Full-Time



Position Overview



We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Custodian to maintain cleanliness and sanitation of office and school environments. This role is responsible for ensuring all assigned areas are clean, safe, and well-maintained on a nightly basis.



Work Environment



Areas serviced include:




  • General and private offices

  • Lobbies, lounges, and conference rooms

  • Kitchen/break rooms and coffee areas

  • Restrooms and washrooms

  • Corridors, stairways, and hallways

  • Computer rooms and mailrooms

  • School classrooms and common areas



Note: No access to secure/restricted areas unless pre-approved.





Key Responsibilities



Floor Care




  • Sweep and/or damp mop hard surface floors

  • Vacuum and spot clean carpeted areas

  • Clean entryway and lobby floors

  • Sweep or vacuum stairways

  • Maintain cleanliness of kitchen/break room floors



Restroom Cleaning




  • Sweep, mop, and disinfect floors

  • Clean and sanitize toilets, urinals, and sinks

  • Clean mirrors and partitions

  • Empty trash and replace liners

  • Refill soap, paper products, and hygiene dispensers

  • Clean sanitary receptacles



Trash & Waste Removal




  • Empty waste receptacles and transport trash to designated areas

  • Replace liners as needed

  • Service smoking areas (if applicable), including sand urn maintenance



Dusting & Surface Cleaning




  • Dust furniture, desks, and office surfaces (without moving personal items)

  • Dust windowsills, ledges, frames, and moldings

  • Light dusting of office equipment

  • Maintain care around personal belongings



Glass Cleaning




  • Clean and polish glass surfaces and desktops

  • Clean entrance doors and partition glass

  • Remove smudges and maintain directory signage



General Duties




  • Clean and sanitize drinking fountains

  • Maintain kitchen/break room areas (tables, chairs, appliances, sinks)

  • Clean coffee service areas (dishwashing available for additional service)

  • Organize janitorial closets

  • Minimize lighting use during shifts

  • Ensure lights are turned off after shift completion

  • Check locks and secure the building before leaving





Physical Requirements




  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift

  • Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40–50 lbs (trash bags, supplies, equipment)

  • Ability to push and pull cleaning carts and equipment

  • Comfortable using cleaning chemicals and equipment safely

  • Ability to work in various environments (indoors, stairwells, restrooms, etc.)





Qualifications




  • Prior custodial or janitorial experience preferred

  • Ability to work independently and follow cleaning schedules

  • Strong attention to detail and reliability

  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks
