Data Analyst

Job Description:

Assesses complex data systems and programs in support of ad-hoc and standing management or customer requests. Creates programs, methodologies, and files for analyzing and presenting data. Examines data quality, applications, and functions. Produces output and sustains operation. Researches new data sources and analytical tools. Contributes to new product development and improvement in product delivery and presentation. Develops awareness of and familiarity with issues and events affecting organization, department, and/or customer. Uses and supports database applications and analytical tools. Uses timely and appropriate participation of users/customers in data collection and query systems.

Responsibilities:

A Data Analyst transforms raw data into actionable insights. They collect, clean, and analyze data to identify trends and patterns. They create visualizations and reports, communicating findings to stakeholders. They use statistical methods and tools to answer business questions and support decision-making. They collaborate with teams to understand data needs and develop solutions. Their work helps organizations optimize processes, improve efficiency, and drive strategic growth.

Duties:

  • Gather data from various sources (databases, spreadsheets, APIs).
  • Clean and preprocess data to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Identify and correct data errors and inconsistencies.
  • Analyze data to identify trends, patterns, and insights.
  • Use statistical methods and tools to analyze data.
  • Interpret data and draw meaningful conclusions.
  • Create visualizations (charts, graphs, dashboards) to present data effectively.
  • Develop reports and presentations to communicate findings to stakeholders.
  • Summarize and present data in a clear and concise manner.
  • Develop and maintain data models.
  • Design and manage databases.
  • Ensure data integrity and security.
  • Develop and maintain business intelligence dashboards and reports.
  • Provide insights to support business decision-making.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement.
  • Monitor data quality and ensure accuracy.
  • Develop and implement data quality control procedures.
  • Identify and address data quality issues.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data needs.

Clearance Required:

Applicants must have at least an active Secret clearance and be able to obtain a clearance at the TS/SCI level. Preference will be given to those who have an active TS/SCI clearance. Applicants must be able to submit documentation establishing U.S. Person status upon hiring. All ISA employees are required to uphold and maintain trustworthiness and suitability requirements of the U.S. federal government.

As a condition of employment, ISA employees are expected to have or be eligible for a Secret-level security clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret (TS) clearance with eligibility for access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI). Applicants must be able to submit documentation establishing U.S. Person status upon hiring. All ISA employees are required to uphold and maintain trustworthiness and suitability requirements of the U.S. federal government.

Experience Required:

Experience should include but is not limited to working knowledge of:

  • Proven experience in analyzing data and identifying trends.
  • Experience using statistical methods and tools.
  • Ability to interpret data and draw meaningful conclusions.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., SQL, Python, R).
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • Familiarity with database management systems (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL).
  • Experience with spreadsheet software (e.g., Excel).
  • Experience in data cleaning, preprocessing, and transformation.
  • Ability to handle large datasets and identify data quality issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to present data findings in a clear and concise manner.
  • Experience in creating reports and presentations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to think critically and develop creative solutions.
  • Understanding of business principles and practices.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into data analysis projects.
  • Experience in providing data-driven insights to support business decisions.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in statistics, mathematics, computer science, business, or any other related field (Required). A master's degree in a related field is preferred.
  • New graduates with relevant internship experience will work well in entry-level roles.
  • For senior levels, certification and relevant experience in a managerial position is an added advantage.

Salary at ISA is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The salary range for this position varies dependent on years of experience, relevant certifications and education. Salary is just one component of ISA's total compensation package for employees.
